The Republican front-runner has secured his standing, as Ted Cruz has faltered.
Its probably too soon to run for the hills just yet.
But if youre worried about the possibility that the nuclear launch codes might a year from now be in the hands of a megalomaniacal strongman with a tenuous grip on reality, the scene on the ground in Iowa with just three days to go until the caucuses won't make you feel much better.
Donald Trump appears poised to notch a major victory in the first electoral test of the year -- a win that would further launch him along a once implausible path toward actually becoming the 2016 Republican presidential nominee.
This prevailing sentiment solidified during Thursday nightâs debate when Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) failed to capitalize on the GOP front-runner's glaring absence from the stage, instead choosing to bicker with the moderators in Trump-like fashion but without the flair.
And in a clear indication of his campaigns new strategic priority of trying to hold onto a now-tenuous second-place standing in Iowa at the expense of competing more explicitly to win it, the Cruz campaign is turning its focus over the airwaves away from the front-runner and toward Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
The New York Times reported on Friday that Cruz had shifted almost all of his negative advertising away from Trump and toward Rubio, in a last-minute attempt to prevent the upstart Floridian from surging into a second-place showing in Iowa -- a result that would upend the race and might prove fatal to Cruzs 2016 hopes.

“Trump has brought more life to conservatism then anybody since Reagan”
Correct. But the squealers will go back decades to find a quote by Trump to prove otherwise.
Take protectionism, for example. Someone could legitimately find plenty of quotes by Reagan on protectionism that would make one think he hated the very idea of it.
But in implementing his policies, Reagan used protectionism very successfully.
Note to HuffPo: run, bitches.
You have to love the conservative purists. They are so concerned with the needle in Trump’s eye while ignoring the logs in Cruz’s.
Yep, but unfortunately goodly number of FReepers are in the same boat!
The Democrats really want to face Trump in the election.
There is so much for them to use to attack Trump.
Iowa is a quirky state. Who knows who is going to win there. In 1988 They voted for Pat Robertson! That being said I hope Trump wins so we can send Ted and his gang home.
Large turn out helps Bernie also, and he is neck and neck with Hillary. Yikes.
Was it not laughable that Trump was said to have no game on the ground. He IS his ground game. Turns out, it’s the old school who thinks they need an army going door to door, and a house to shelter them.
If that's true then you, and every one of your "personally known conservatives" are assholes. I'm a Cruzer and I guarantee that I've donated more to his campaign than you or any of your "personal conservative friends" and while I want Cruz to win, if Trump wins, I'm in.
If you are not, then I've already described you and your friends, except to add, stinky, smelly and foul.
We have been GALT for eight years. What’s new about that?
When you lose a general election, GALT is your consolation prize, automatically.
We intend to win this one.
TRUMP 2016
Since you already know, why are you asking?
Trump may win this one, but that’s a loss for conservatives. Sorry you can’t see that.
I will not help this “ready to deal with Pelosi” asshat any support.
Weather predictions are more favorable than a couple of days ago.
It now looks like Monday will be clear and cold and the snow will hold off until Tuesday. But even the ‘cold’ is a couple of degrees above normal for this time of year.
FoxNews was proclaiming this morning that Rubio is rising fast and could pull ahead of Cruz. That would be a big feather in his cap/toup ...

I bet you haven’t donated more to Cruz than I have.
But if youre worried about the possibility that the nuclear launch codes might a year from now be in the hands of a megalomaniacal strongman with a tenuous grip on reality, the scene on the ground in Iowa with just three days to go until the caucuses won't make you feel much better.Cruz made the launch codes null and void when he gave Obama/Kerry a veto proof deal giving Iran $170 billion dollars to buy a bomb when he signed the Corker bill. They don't even have to bother with building one anymore.
The Canadian anchor baby may have American and or Israeli blood on his hands someday as a result...Maybe his own or his family's.
...and it was Hillary that sold the secret information to other foreign countries while she was Sec. of St. for her Crime foundation....these are the ‘classified emails’ that can’t be released....
55 percent and Megan Kelly will eat her eyeballs live on Fox TV.
Yup! But they’d rather have these Arkansas trash in the White House over anyone with an R against their name.
I know that it is unavoidable for any sitting president, to endure Pelosi at some level. I can imagine that TRUMP might cramp her style, somewhat.
Pelosi is MeAgain Kelly in a few years, but in Pelosi’s case, she doesn’t get to make (fix) the rules of engagement with TRUMP.
I'd pay $79.99 to see her eat Chris Stirewalt's eyeballs.
