Full statement on Trump declining to participate in Fox News/Google Debate
Fox News ^ | January 27, 2016 | Fox News

As many of our viewers know, FOX News is hosting a sanctioned debate in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday night, three days before the first votes of the 2016 election are cast in the Iowa Caucus. Donald Trump is refusing to debate seven of his fellow presidential candidates on stage that night, which is near unprecedented.

We’re not sure how Iowans are going to feel about him walking away from them at the last minute, but it should be clear to the American public by now that this is rooted in one thing – Megyn Kelly, whom he has viciously attacked since August and has now spent four days demanding be removed from the debate stage. Capitulating to politicians’ ultimatums about a debate moderator violates all journalistic standards, as do threats, including the one leveled by Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski toward Megyn Kelly.

Good — if they don’t show up for work, they’re not making absurd new rules to control our lives. I’d pay them more if they’d do less of that.

before Ailes sent the message, Trump has warmed for months he may and presently likely would not participate in another FNC hosted debate unless the ambushes were stopped, Kelly or no Kelly. After the Ailes message Trump finalized his decision to not participate.

See the article:

After Trump taunted Kelly in an Instagram video and polled his Twitter followers about whether he should skip the debate, Ailes, the powerful chairman of Fox News and a longtime friend of Trump’s, signed off on this snarky statement:

“We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.”

Trump was incensed by the statement. “I don’t know what games Roger Ailes is playing,” he said at a Tuesday evening press conference.

No, I don’t think so.

Trump had already quit earlier when the statement came out.

No, the PR statement was out earlier, it was put in news later by Trump.

When Trump interviewed with Brett Baier ealier in the day, Trump mentioned the PR statement. But he had not stated at that point that he was out.

In fact, Baier asked him, and he avoided committing to the debate and stated he was considering his options.

Facts are like steel, they are unforgiving.

Real loser? FoxNews. Let’s put a finer point on it. Here are the real numbers from ADWEEK after last FoxNews moderated debate.

http://www.adweek.com/news/television/fox-news-shatters-cable-news-record-gop-debate-166291

“Donald Trump may not be appreciating Fox News today, but Fox News sure has Trump to thank for giving the network its most-watched program ever.
In fact last night’s GOP debate, airing from 9 p.m. ET to just past 11 p.m. ET, is now the most-watched non-sports show ever on cable TV. It marks the biggest audience for cable news and for Fox News.

The debate averaged 24 million viewers and 7.9 million in the key demographic of adults ages 25 to 54, the one advertisers look at when buying time on news programs, according to Nielsen.

Moderated by Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace, the viewership shattered that of all other primary debates on cable or broadcast TV. The most-watched debate in the 2012 cycle was ABC’s coverage of the Dec. 10, 2011 face-off, which drew 7.63 million. The most-watched GOP debate of the 2008 cycle, also on ABC, was watched by 7.350 million.
The debate eclipses the most-watched TV show of the 2014-2015 season—that would be The Big Bang Theory, which averaged 21.3 million viewers last season.”

“your small mind”
LOL.
“no shame in walking away from a bad deal” You don’t mean the Wonder Man would not be able work his persuasive charm and would actually walk away from a deal because he couldn’t win? Of course he can’t bring his lawyers, accountants, statisticians and the clean up maid to defend himself from ferocious Megyn. You know I can’t imagine Ronald Reagan ducking of a debate because he didn’t like one of the mods. What a joke! There are 8 other hopefuls not afraid to show up. I remember Megyn relentlessly raking Cruz over the coals. Glad to see that Cruz a stand up guy that will not cower will be there!

Kelly will have more body guards than Trump and Hillary combined. I hope people throw tampons at her. And throw a few at Baier while they’re at it.

“We’re not sure how Iowans are going to feel about him walking away from them at the last minute...”

Well, well, well. If they were the top notch news organization they claim to be they’d know EXACTLY how Iowans “feel” because they’d have journalists out there asking Iowans how they “feel”. Being all “touchy/feely” and all.

RR skipped the Iowa debate in 1980 because the Des Moines Register was against RR and was the debate sponsor.

His aides had already said he had decided to get out. Two of them told Cameron.

“RR skipped the Iowa debate in 1980 because the Des Moines Register was against RR and was the debate sponsor.”

Apparently you don’t your have facts straight!

“Reagan was not in a petty feud with the Des Moines Register at the time. His campaign manager simply believed that as the frontrunner, Reagan was above the debate. Only five of the nine Republicans vying for the nomination participated in the debate. That debate was the first Republican primary debate since 1948. It was not planned to be a televised debate—that came later. And after Reagan’s loss in Iowa, he pivoted, ignoring his campaign manager’s advice and deciding not to skip future debates.

Homo or not, he just gives the appearance that he got the job by knowing people and NOT necessarily based on any real journalistic skills. Actually, many of the women on FOX News are very talented and gifted AND SMART ladies. Many have high IQs and are very highly educated. Sheppard just seems like a dope who landed a great job...

Incorrect.

And impossible.

Trump interviewed with Brett Baier after the Faux PR release.
He did not announce he was out but was deciding.

Are you dense ?

He hadn’t announced it officially yet, but two campaign aides had told Carl Cameron that he had made up his mind and he was definitely not attending.
