CNN)One person was killed as authorities arrested a group of people -- including Ammon Bundy -- involved with the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, the FBI and Oregon State Police said.
The deceased individual, who has not been identified, was the subject of a federal probable cause arrest, officials said.

I don’t think Ammon Bundy made his stand “a little early” - remember what happened to him and his family in Nevada not so long ago? Two men are in prison for no good reason at all. They will lose everything they worked for because the BLM wants their land and what is under it. The judge, the prosecutor, the Sheriff, the Governor, should all be hounded for this miscarriage of justice. I am disgusted and sick to my stomach.

I do know the county Fire Chief saw some “militia” nosing around the county armory, only to find out they were FBI agents. He resigned after being told to back off.

I was suspecting that an arrest attempt of some sort was coming because the authorities were afraid of the meeting in Grant County tonight spreading the protest movement further..
What are your thoughts on that?
The violence may have been precipitated because the government didn't want defiance spreading?
The Feds wanted to send a message to the peasants ... this was it. Now we will see whether we are free men or serfs

The Bundy’s and others were trying to drive to John Day Oregon this evening when they were stopped by the FBI and the Oregon Highway Patrol.
Gunfire ensued...with some reports indicating that the Feds initiated it, but that is confirmed.
Both Bundys were taken into custody,. One of the group’s spokesmen, LaVoy Finicum, was killed and another member of the group wounded.
This happened about 15 miles from the refuge.
I am wondering what motivated them to try and drive to John Day? Were they on back roads? Were they trying to avoid a larger confrontation? I heard that they were going to a another meeting there.
Time will tell.
True. The 2016 presidential election is nothing more than a distraction to keep the peasants occupied.

If the feds were smart, which is possible, they were just waiting all this time to get most of the leadership alone on the road and outside the wildlife reserve buildings.
My guess - they were running out of time to show results, and this was their best shot at arresting the Bundys.
And color me unsurprised that the Bundys did not go out in a blaze of glory.
We know the government is trying to steal their land.
