Trump: I'll work with Democrats
The Hill ^ | 26 Jan 16 | Jesse Byrnes

Posted on 01/26/2016 9:45:02 AM PST by elhombrelibre

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is stressing his bona fides as a dealmaker who'd be able to enter the White House and work with congressional Democrats to hammer out agreements.

"I think I'm going to be able to get along with Pelosi — I've always had a good relationship with Nancy Pelosi," Trump said Tuesday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," referring to the House minority leader.

"Reid's going to be gone. I've always had a decent relationship with Reid," Trump said, referring to Harry Reid (D-Nev.), the Senate minority leader. "I always had a great relationship with Harry Reid."

Trump said he thought he'd get along with "just about everybody," including Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), likely to be the next Senate Democratic leader, who Trump said he was "close to ... in many in ways."

GREAT...more going along, to get along. Just what we need.

Can’t people see it’s the same thing we’ve been fighting and trying to get OUT of office?? Ugh

I agree with you and I think Donald trump understands that the Democrats are not going to be coperative .....Donald trump defiantly has his faults but I suggest those that are concerned take a look at the back episodes of the apprentice. Most of it is dribble but what is interesting is the end of the show when they do the boardroom shtik. watch how he zeroes in on those that end up before him. he spots weakness immediately and he can spot some one trying to game him. he wont be able to fire Pelosi or any other democrat but he will be able to manipulate them into doing what he wants because I believe he understands there motives and how there own personnel interest supersedes everything.

Do you think the Left sees it that way?

Presumably the Republican has the Republican vote. So who is Trump reaching out to here?

The Left belches about nothing getting done, and he says he will get things done.

He has a platform he is running on, and I expect him to act on it. The Republicans will be in the majority.

We’re not going to elect Trump in a landslide and then turn Congress over to the Left.

We won’t have to worry about him dealing with Pelosi and Ried.

If he even speaks with Pelosi this country is done. Wake up America.

If Rubio had said this, we’d hear “RINO!!” “TRAITOR,” and “SELLOUT.”

But when it’s Trump... ah yes... it’s just the brilliance in him speaking.

Thanks. Let’s be proud and honest conservatives. Trump is going to bend because he has no core values. It’s sad that he’s fooling so many people.

Very disturbing; red flags flying.

Not to the cultists.

Their excuses are already lined up. And when former Democrat Donald Trump knifes them in the back, they'll have a new set of excuses for why it's a "Terrific, terrific deal. Wonderful deal!" already lined up.

Do you remember the George W. Bush administration? Did we have majorities? His philosophy and ideology are everything! Leaders lead.

Ok, so now we're supportive of the establishment GOP and hate guys like Cruz, Sessions and Lee. It's difficult to keeps things straight so thanks for bringing us up to date. I suppose Paul Ryan is, once again, our kind of guy? McConnell too?

There once was a time when we wanted someone to stand up to the establishment/cartel.

Our country is in such a steep decline its going to take all Americans to get us out of the mess Obama and Bush left us in.

Get a clue. This is excuse making for the leader of your cult. He's telling you you're going to have to drink the Kool-Aid, and you're already telling the rest of us how great it's going to taste.

For four to six years he did have a majority in Congress both or one body.

What did he accomplish with it. Did he avoid the 2008 meltdown with it?

Yikes.

Trump supporters:

  1. Like Ted Cruz and would not mind him being the nominee
  2. Seek victory over socialist Democrat apparatus
  3. Don't agree with everything Trump stands for but enough to be pragmatic
  4. Think Trump loves this country
  5. Realizes that successfully business routinely need to access the halls of power need to press palms and give money to their perceived ideological enemy.

Hardcore Cruz supporters:

  1. Hate Donald Trump as a person and would mind him being the nominee
  2. Seek pyrrhic victory so they can bloviate on internet message forums and to their families about how principled they are..like good meaning Germans who stayed home and would not vote against Adolph Hitler in 1932
  3. Don't agree with anything Trump stands for and only perfect right wing radio talk show slogans emanating from their candidates suck hole will do
  4. Think Trump is a shady grifter who bought influence and cheated his way to the top. Sound awfully like those Occupy Wall Street nutjobs
  5. Live in a delusionary world where you hate you enemies with seething rage and refuse to be cordial, friendly or compromising. That government should be ruled by a fiat. A conservative president should by strokes of his pen do away with all government that certain folks thinks are cumbersome and wasteful.

Trump said he could shoot someone and his supporters wouldn’t care. He knows them best. He’s developed a bond with them that defies facts. Cognitive dissonance about his past and present they can deal with quite well. It’s the guy who says, “Look. The king has no clothes.” That upsets them. Telling the truth about Trump has become a real sin to his supporters.

Trump can do a 180 on his values and positions and not lose the Trump supporters.

FOR How many YEARS have we gotten NOTHING?
I’ll go with Trump who I know can get us SOMETHING. Maybe it won’t be perfect, but it WILL BE one Heck of a lot better than what we’ve received for all the worthless promises since 2010. What have our majorities produced other than an advancement of the Obama wrecking ball? Well, I want somebody to make a wrecking ball work for US! Go Trump!
