"Socrates, my master, is my friend but a greater friend is truth." - Plato
Free Market Economist Thomas Sowell recently joined other National Review contributors in criticizing Donald Trump and his candidacy for President of the United States. Stefan Molyneux responds to the writing of one of his intellectual heroes - and illustrates the flawed reasoning contained within Dr. Sowell's "Do Emotions Trump Facts?" article.
The establishment R’s helped Trump out. They made the case Trump isn’t an ideologue conservative and the establishment opposes him. That just helps Trump.
They really don’t ‘get it.’
Trump is for cutting government and destroying the status quo.
Cruz comes closest to that as an existing Senator also fighting against the status quo.
More of the same vs. change. That’s the decision to voters in every election.
Trump is the vote for greatest change from our status quo.
Boy I don’t think I have EVER seen this kind of blowback from things that are being done to Trump!!! Videos popping up EVERYWHERE of pissed off people!!! People in this country are not going to sit back and take it anymore!! Thank goodness for social media so their voices can be heard!! This has honestly given me hope that the MSM will be DEAD very soon!!!
Is it that difficult to type some text? I don’t care to spend 35 minutes listening to someone talk because he was too lazy to type out his thoughts.
Re Trump ‘self serving.’
Trump did a job to complete a skating rink in New York - at no profit to help New York out.
It’s all described in Art of the Deal.
Any college kid could rebut Sowell’s article. Good sign he wasn’t thinking when he wrote it, but instead was blinded by Trump hate.
Sowell is part of the Republican establishment.
ALL Republicans benefit by Trump pushing the debate to the right. Instead of a million Muslims being brought in each year (what we do now), Trump says bring in none.
Trump has reframed all of American politics.
But... it’s good NR and other Republicans bash Trump. It helps Trump among working class whites and blacks.
Never heard of Stefan Molyneux. On the other hand I have been familiar with Thomas Sowell for years. His analysis of the Trump issue is brilliant.
Thanks for posting the video.
Stefan Molyneux does a good job of destroying the argument made by Thomas Sowell
Youtube have transcript function you could read if listening is not for you
Clearly that is the way you see it. I don't. Not at all.
In most things Trump is not likely to have any interest in changing the status quo in any significant way:
Income tax policy. Anyone hoping for significant tax reform ought to think twice about Trump. Trump is too invested in gaming the tax system to have any passion for change.
Regulatory Reform: Again, Trump voters hoping for changes to the crushing burden of regulation are likely to come away fro a Trump presidency profoundly disappointed.
Supreme Court appointments: this is where I think a President Trump will disappoint most profoundly. I fear that Trump would leave us with a liberal activist court for another generation and a half. We have a chance to drive the court toward Constitutionalism, but Trump does not have either the instinct or the interest for that.
If you never heard of Stefan Molyneux. Here’s another excellent video

I have been crazy about and have followed Sowell since 1970, or so. He has now lost me FOREVER and I am thoroughly disgusted by his stance on Trump and that he did a hit piece for NR.
He has also smoked out our enemies and that’s a very good thing!
Great video. Commonsense.
What IF Sowell had trashed Ted ?
Agree. Trump has exposed the Uniparty. Also showed how Fox News is part of the problem.
He didn’t. I can’t answer a made up situation. This is not personal. His column was a sound and wise assessment of the Trump candidacy. He endorsed no one.
I doubt it!
Trump is for lowering taxes, doing away with a special loophole that only helps BIG Hedge Fund owners and managers, and also make it much more wise for world wide companies to bring their capital back to the USA, by tax reform.
Since Trumps FAVORITE Justices are Thomas FIRST, followed by Alito, whom he said he would try to find younger versions of, to nominate; once again you are utterly wrong about him.
OTOH....Cruz is a BIG Roberts guy, who is one of his oldest friends. We all know just how THAT turned out. I do NOT trust Ted's judgement of people at all; especially his closeness with the MORONIC LUNATIC Glenn Beck !.
