Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) on Friday said Hillary Clinton's paid speeches to Wall Street firms such as Goldman Sachs are "in the past" and not worth delving into.
"The fact is that's in the past," she said on MSNBC when asked about Clinton's past speeches to the banking firm.
"They're done, so it doesn't matter whether or not you support that or not," Shaheen said.
"[It is] just as Bernie's socialism - he claims - is in the past," she added of Clinton's chief rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Bernie Sanders.
"The question is what do voters want to see now from the candidates and who can deliver. That's what I believe the difference is between the candidates on both the Democratic and Republican sides."
Shaheen also disputed that Clinton's long-standing ties to the Democratic establishment will cost her voters next November.
"Listen, voters are angry, and I don't blame them," said Shaheen, who publicly endorsed Clinton's Oval Office bid last year.
"They have been watching a Washington that has been divisive and hasn't worked together," she added.
"I believe we need a candidate who is not going to further divide this country but is going to unite it. That's one of the reasons I am supporting Hillary."
Clinton and Sanders are battling for last-minute momentum in the early-voting state of Iowa. The Hawkeye State holds its critical first-in-the-nation caucuses on Feb. 1.

Beyond the glamour, being part of the Clinton family has provided Mr. Mezvinsky with another perk: access to wealthy investors with ties to the Clintons.
I’m sure Ms Shaheen feels the same way about Bubu’s rape, and sexual harassment victims. There in the past, we don’t need to talk about them. What a tool, nice job New Hampshire.
Translation: "She got away with it at the time -- so don't try to make her answerable for it now."
Take their money and kick them to the curb anyway.
How is this different from a confidence game, or even an outright mugging on the street?
The ensuing violence done to the patrons who naively supported Herself is absolutely gratuitous. Makes as much sense as a Quentin Tarantino movie plot, or any of his subsequent rants.
That 90+ year old German guy being sent to prison for being a Nazi camp guard? What’s the problem? It’s in the past! Bill Cosby’s penchant for drugging his dates? In the past!
Is there a list of speeches and fees somewhere?
An excellent question. Perhaps one will surface.
All of Eichmann’s atrocities were in the past. He was a pretty decent guy in Argentina. Move on, forgive and forget. It was only 12 million people...
I seem to recall plenty of Scott Brown bashers coming out of the woodwork, twice.
Odd how democrat scum always want to ‘move on’...
When Mr. Mezvinsky and his partners began raising money in 2011 for a new hedge fund firm, Eaglevale Partners, a number of investors in the firm were longtime supporters of the Clintons, according to interviews and financial documents reviewed by The New York Times. Tens of millions of dollars raised by Eaglevale can be attributed to investors with some relationship or link to the Clintons.
The investors include hedge fund managers like Marc Lasry and James Leitner; an overseas money management firm connected to the Rothschild family; and people from Goldman Sachs, including the chief executive, Lloyd C. Blankfein. Some of the investors in Eaglevale have contributed campaign money to the former president and Mrs. Clinton, who is widely expected to run for president again in 2016. Some have also contributed to the familyâs foundation.
Identifying who put money into Eaglevale, a roughly $400 million fund that has had underwhelming returns for much of its brief history, is difficult because hedge funds do not publicly disclose their investors. Still, the overlap between at least some of Eaglevaleâs investors and backers of the Clintons illustrates how politics and finance can intersect and shows the fine line the Clinton family must navigate as their charitable and business endeavors come under scrutiny in an election cycle.
