I can see 2016 from my house and I don't like what I'm seeing

January 22, 2016

Dear Mr. Levin,

My name is Lauren Stephens. I’ve been involved in politics for a long time – mostly just as a pissed off American, but I am also the owner of Conservative Campaign Consulting. I do not work for any of the Presidential Campaigns. I am not coordinated with any of them. I have not spoken to any of them. I am not being paid by anyone for this.

First off, I would like to let you know that I have been a huge fan and follower of yours since probably about 2007 or 2008. I have several, but not all, of your books. They are really good stuff. I have even downloaded the majority of your podcasts.

Mr. Levin, for years, I have had nothing but the utmost respect for you. Your word has always been your bond. If you doubt my sincerity, you can ask a former co-worker of yours from the Reagan Administration, Dixie Cassell. You could ask a real patriot, C Steven Tucker, from the Chicago area. You could ask a lot of people. They know me.

For years, you have been a champion of We The People, and maybe today, you still believe that you are. But at this point, I beg to differ. Not because I want to, but because I believe I have a little bit more inside information than you have on certain issues surrounding the Presidential race. And the GOP.

I hope you will keep in mind, my respect and admiration for you, before you respond – IF you respond. Although I am angry, I come to you without malice. I am here simply because I know of no other way to get this message to you.

Go on and support the EPA, then, while the rest of us pay for the ethanol scam we pump into our cars. Cruz did vote for the crop insurance , which makes better sense for Iowa because their agriculture is a real industry. But some of the Freepers on this thread were calling him a panderer for dong that just a few days ago. Not all subsidies are created equal.

Can you call oil depletion allowance a subsidy?

The only one that has slim chance to stop the bleeding and won't be brow beaten by the communist media and the marxist muslim uniparty is Trump.

Correct. Trump won't allow himself to be brow beaten by the Communist media and the Marxist, Muslim Uniparty.

He will make a deal with them instead.

Because, you know - you have to make deals to get things DONE.

Hell, the GOP Establishment has shown us that in spades. Why do you think they are all suddenly cozying up to Trump?

They are beginning to see a deal-maker they can work with to keep their Fascism gravy train going, rather than someone who will refuse to 'deal' because it violates principle.

I repeat, there are no subsidies for the oil and gas business.

A tax break IS a subsidy.

Trump is forcing every one of these asshat elitists to expose themselves. Levin has been added to the list, and many more to come.

Lauren Stephens is right. Cruz stabbed Trump in the back after they had an informal agreement.

Good! I can’t stand that arrogant Lowry. I didn’t like him before this election cycle. I’m tired of these smug elitists talking down to the American people.

Whacking all subsidies at once is as poor economics as anything the EPA has done.

If you would bother to read my post again, I hope you will note that I said not all at once.

I am opposed to all government interference with the markets other than prosecuting those who have committed crimes.

But to end it all at once would totally wreck the country.

You do not throw a baby out in the cold and tell him to root hog or die, and today most of our industries are babies sucking a government tit.

While you say this is a good article, picking a random place to start I read "I had Paul Ryan’s number way before you did Mr. Levin. Needless to say, I was happy when you finally realized what a fraud he really is."

At that point one could stop, but no, I go on, pick another random spot and read "Mr. Trump has been a VERY, VERY generous donor to the GOP, the RNC, the RNCC, and most every other Republican committee in this country."

Shocked is what I am. Say it is not so. A man who builds very expensive high rise buildings contributes to political campaigns? Did you ever?

Seriously, whatever point this letter might have been trying to make, I will choose to put it down right there.

I’m done with Levin too. Too bad. Levin made his choice and I’ve made mine.

...most of our industries are babies sucking a government tit.

And that will never change, because politicians benefit just as much from the arrangement as the industries do.

I doubt we'll ever clean up politics by getting the politicians out of politics.

No and neither are intangible drilling costs.

Oil and gas production are real businesses with a real demand in the market place.
Ethanol has no business purpose and NO demand in the market place. So a bunch of lobbyists bribed ( made campaign donations ) to enough Congressmen and Senators to subsidize this new “industry”.
Without the government largess, the whole worthless enterprise collapses.
Trump, in his brilliance, wants to take your hard earned money and mine and ship it to millionaire corn farmers in Iowa, all to win him votes.
Cruz, takes the position any true conservative would, end the waste of taxpayers funds and stop govt from picking winners and losers.
This issue is a microcosm of things to come.......

Conservatives expecting Presidential candidates in Iowa to show their bona fides by opposing ethanol subsidies should expect the same results that the Ordeal by Water produced in medieval witch trials.

It's a fairly long letter

My eyes glazed over and my scroll finger got tired and then I quit.

I doubt very seriously if Levin makes it as far as I.

Bullcrap.

Stopped right here:

Senator Cruz sure is taking in a lot of money from “big oil”, so I am going to challenge him to get his butt down to Texas as soon as possible and proclaim to all those donors that he will be immediately working to END ALL OIL SUBSIDIES (which are far bigger than ethanol subsidies). Mr. Cruz, please, show us what a real conservative you are – tell your donors you are going to cut them off if they elect you. By an Executive Order if need be. If you are not willing to do that, then you are a hypocrite and by your own standards, not a real Conservative.

Ted Cruz has already declared he is for the end of ALL energy subsidies, including Big Oil.

Levin has said he’ll happily vote for Trump ( Wednesday night) if he’s the nominee. Furthermore , I’m sure Cruz will campaign for Trump if he’s the nominee. I’m almost equally sure Trump won’t even lift a finger to help Cruz if it goes that way.
