“... Trumpism (is) a paranoid, nationalist fever. It is, by definition, a minority sentiment. It cannot ascend to lead the nation because it seeks to shape a winning coalition through division and subtraction. For conservatives with an interest in seeing their governing agenda enacted, the rise of Trump is a threat”.

An interesting, if not original take. I think it’s just the opposite. It’s hopium, just like the left had for BHO.

From the article:

“Place your faith in Trump if you like, but don’t expect miracles. Expect incomprehensible surprises.”

Pretty good summation.

Paraphrase: “I’m really not such an irresponsible journalist as to say that Trump is Hitler...but think of him sort of like....Hitler”

Got it, Mr LBB.

Of course Trump is not a modern Hitler, and it is ridiculous to say the USA is as desperate as Germany was in the years after World War I. Yes, the parallels are weak, but the outline of the nightmare is familiar: a phony hero appears and promises to end political madness with a plan for orderly reform -- if the voters will demand that he assume power.

Well then, the evils of elections has been revealed. Imagine If Trump had demeaned them like this.

Too bad we didn’t have Trump running in 2008 instead of a capon POS like John Mclame. (Our country wouldn’t be lying in ruins.)

Trump would have said, “I don’t know, I don’t think Obama is eligible to run for POTUS......You know he’s posted on his website that he’s a dual born citizen. Check it out. His father was a foreign national from Kenya and he has no birth certificate. You press people need to do your homework”

That would have been it.

Conservative.

What’s left to conserve?

Obama destroyed this country with the Vichy RINOS’ help.

Burn it down and rebuild on the ashes.

How can smart people have it so wrong?
Conservatism is by definition exclusive, since it excludes some liberal views. “Trumpism” is more of a populist uprising, a desire to get things done and is inclusive and additive. It will pull in blacks, it will pull in Democrats, it will pull in independents, Hispanics, establishment conservatives, conservatives and Tea Partiers. Is a majority sentiment.

So the author’s premise is completely wrong, upside down to begin with... so all the conclusions are bound to be nonsense.

In all this hoorah about Trump being another Hitler I can’t recall any place where Trump was demanding more dictatorial power for the Presidency. I may have missed it, but I can’t think of an example.

Time will tell if Trump means what he says. But there’s one thing for sure, other than Carson, all the other guys are politicians. Politicians that have demonstrated that they will say whatever they need to get elected and then do what they want once they’re in office.

Everyone but Trump wants to welcome illegals with open arms. Jury is still out on Cruz, although he’s saying now that he wants them gone.
Trump has come out and said that the emphasis should be on American workers. The others can’t wait to get underneath the desk of Tom Donohue from the Chamber of Commerce.
Trump want’s to strengthen the military. They all do(maybe). But it’s going to be real hard to take care of the military when so much money will have to go to illegal aliens, their children, their housing, their schooling, their healthcare, etc.
Trump said that TPP, TPA, TIA and every trade deal this country has made SUCKS. The rest just want to empower and line the pockets of the Chamber of Commerce, their billionaire donors, big business, and the rest of the donor class.
Cruz hammers Rubio for missing so many votes in the Senate. But he misses one, where he was a sponsor of the bill, to audit the Fed. Funny how many former Goldman Sachs folks are part of the Federal Reserve and he has taken money from them.

I could go on, but it isn’t worth it. Is Trump a rockstar Conservative cut from the same cloth as someone like Louie Gohmert? No.

But, there’s one thing I and all his supporters are willing to do, take a chance on a guy that at least says he gives a sh*t. The others have thumbed their noses at us and flipped us the bird for far too long any way too many times. All in service of their corporate masters. They have proven that they could give a flying rats a$$ about any of us. I think the days of “The devil you know, over the devil you don’t” are over.

So if Rothman, and those like him, think that hitching my horse to the Trump wagon makes me a paranoid nationalist, F*CK HIM and the horse he rode in on. I’m tired of getting screwed.
