Beck: Trump's Use of Nationalism, Populism 'Dangerous Combination,' 'Makings of Adolf Hitler'
Breitbart ^

Posted on 01/22/2016 10:46:43 AM PST by springwater13

"That's why you should be freaking out," he added. "Look, we have nothing against Donald Trump as a man. We don't. It's just this is a very dangerous combination and I have been warning against it since Fox. I said keep your eyes open because it will come. The pendulum will swing the other way and it will be bad. The only other thing you have to add to that - he's talking about populism and nationalism. If you add socialism - populism, nationalism and socialism, you have the makings of Adolf Hitler. You don't somebody who is a nationalist, a populist and has any kind of socialist or nationalizing the banks kind of ideas. Not a good idea, not a good idea."

The Trump phenomenon is not new. The movement is nothing more than a different version (American) of what happened in Germany in the 1930s. In the American version, the cause is just, the problems real, but the chosen solution, a delusion, and the "hero", a fanciful graven image hewn out in the imagination of "The True Believers". What we are seeing with Trump is a nationalistic populist movement sucking in a lot of good patriotic people. People better figure Trump out pretty quick or we will be in more trouble than we are already in. Trump is no true conservative, but for a few slip-ups that betray him, he could get an Oscar for his performance. This is no more than 1930s and 2008 populism déjà vu in a completely different cloak. Trump is using the modus operandi described in Eric Hoffer's 1951 book, "The True Believer" - Thoughts On The Nature Of Mass Movements. Trump has found a void and has created a cult following. He is taking legitimate issues and concerns and using them to generate a fanatical mass movement of "True Believers" -- intoxicated Trumpaholics, and TRump is their cult leader. There is no way to talk to many of them; their minds have been snatched. Many will not realize the fantasy until it all falls down. History repeats. It is déjà vu all over again.

This has been my warning about Trump since day one. I just don’t like to use the word “Hitler”. Thing is, the Germans didn’t know they were getting a “Hitler” until it was too late.

People who don’t study history often only see it as two dimensional. It is important to understand the deep nuances of how a man like Hitler comes to power. The Trump rise, and his “way” are not exactly the same as Hitler’s, but there are some eerie similarities.

And yes, it CAN happen here.

But it was perfectly fine for Trump to re-tweet something associating Bush with neo-Nazis. No problem there.

“If your first-choice candidate is Trump, then you are among the minority here on FR. I’ve been keeping track; out of 1,030 FReepers who stated a preference one way or another, a little over 54% have stated that Trump is ONLY their SECOND CHOICE if a choice at all. Trump is the first choice of less than 46%, the clear minority on FR. If you don’t like it, too bad. It is what it is.”

I refer you to the Free Republic Caucus threads, that have been run the past two days. Trump has won both of them so far.

Seems like there is breathless adoration on the Cruz side as well as the Trump side. Read the posts.

Are the masses so dumbed-down that they only know to use “Hitler/Nazi” when they dislike someone?

Y’all have no other analogies or metaphors?!

Beck’s a mental midget. Everyone who uses “Hitler/Nazi/WW2” as their only way to communicate displeasure is an idiot.

Enough.

Is the event with CRUZ and BECK still planned for WATERLOO tomorrow?

This is a VERY BAD MOVE by Ted. Trump is going to have a field day with this.

Is that worse than the Stalin currently in the Oval Office?? There I said it

The thing that concerned me about Obama was those that supported him more than Obama himself.

The same is true of Trump. The number of conservatives who have thrown out their core values to support this man is an interesting thing to watch. It’s why I say they are like the 19 year old that sneaks into a “nudie bar” and falls for a pole dancer - and wants to marry her. I get why he’s all twitterpated, but it will not end well.

Well, stand strong and with confidence. Late last night I did my latest tally of what is now 1,030 individual FReepers who, over the past few months, have expressed their clear opinion in discussions.

More than 54% either prefer Cruz (most) or someone else over Trump and Cruz both.

Trump ranks first with a little less than 46% of the folks here. In other words, the majority would rather have someone else, such as Cruz.

Happily, we are the quieter majority; they are the louder minority.

He just makes Ted look even more extreme that he is.

Perhaps in today's political climate ranging from hardcore-shoot-'em-in-the-streets statism to the soft socialism masquerading as 'freedom' Cruz appears to be an "extremist".

Actually, to me, he is just a bit closer to original intent than the other candidates.

When relatively ordinary socialists grabbed the 'middle of the road' years ago with the media, education establishment, and using their own extremists to make their position more reasonable, what passes for 'conservative' moved a lane to the left. Which makes people driving on the right side of the line "extremists". Cruz is more on target than most.

Now, I like Sarah, I voted for her to be a heartbeat away from the Oval Office (one could hope, after all). The GOPe was so afraid of her that they scuttled her and McCain with her. They either figured they could rein Obama or that they would be able to contain him (then gave the SOB everything he ever asked for).

I am sad that she has made the choices she has, and wish her well, but disagree.

Mr Trump has already traded the ethanol mandate for Iowa, along with an implication that he would continue the EPA, if not expand it.

Wow. A big deal when it costs every American 10% of their MPG, subsidy money, and is Federally mandated, for a little bitty state like Iowa. Not many electoral votes there.

What will the guy who wrote The Art of the Deal trade for electoral votes from New York or California? He's writing checks we'll have to cash, one way or another, and the first votes haven't even been cast.

I much prefer someone of principle, whether they are 'loveable' or not.

Hey Vinny, I vote for who I want. I don't let "other" people influence me. I could care less if ALL of FR is voting for Cruz. Call me all the names you want, it ain't gonna change my mind.

Beck is not all there. You may not be either for all I know.

Hitler v Stalin... maybe not... but Marxism vs Nationalism/Populism all over again? Inevitable historical forces? The rise of nationalism/populism took place in Germany because of the Treaty of Versailles destroyed the German economy, and Germans were made to feel like second-class citizens while still being the most productive engine in Europe during thoe hard times. There are parallels to that today, with the Left blaming the Conservatives for all the ills in life, while still living off of the productivity of others. If one can get past Godwin’s Law and the stigma of Hitler and Stalin, an argument can be made.

But if the breathless adoration was for Cruz NO PROBLEM!

If Cruz was the subject of breathless adoration I'd be suspicious of that, too.

Look at the last subject of 'breathless adoration' to hold high office--oh wait! He's still there (or out golfing...or on vacation...)!

I'm looking to elect a President, not voting on Miss Popularity.

You could not possibly pick someone who will sink you faster than Beck. If this is Ted’s call, it’s all the proof you’ll ever need his judgment is problematic. If it’s not, it proves Ted operates at the behest of his backers and THEIR judgment is problematic.

Since you put it in a civil manner, I will respond the same.

Yes we Cruz supporters do have adoration for Ted Cruz and for a multiple of reasons, all of which have been espoused on FR....

I was on the Trump bandwagon....jumped off for many reasons, and now I can see how I was wrong to get on in the first place.

Trump is not Hitler, but just take a look at the crowds that Hitler drew in his 1932 campaign. Were those people wrong at the time? NO, they only saw what they wanted to see, then lived to regret what they did.

Dare to Google 1932 election and see the masses in complete blind adoration. There are videos available on Google.

Mass hysteria, and I am ashamed to say I had that for Trump not long ago.

Trump is now telling people what he is really about. Obama in 2008 also said exactly what he was going to do WITH America......deja vu?
