National Review, the conservative magazine founded by William F. Buckley, will publish a special issue on Friday opposing Donald Trump's bid for the presidency, according to a source with knowledge of the issue's contents.
The issue will feature a blistering editorial that labels Trump a threat to conservatism, as well as essays by 22 prominent conservative thinkers from various ideological factions, in opposition to Trump's candidacy, the source said.
"Donald Trump is a menace to American conservatism who would take the work of generations and trample it underfoot on behalf of a populism as heedless and crude as The Donald himself," the editorial states.
The issue, first reported by Jonathan Martin of The New York Times, comes as conservative pundits and GOP leaders debate which of the two leading Republican candidates -- Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz -- poses the greater threat to the party.
Rich Lowry, the editor of National Review, spent weeks reaching out to fellow conservatives, ranging from The Weekly Standard's William Kristol to RedState's Erick Erickson, to commission essays for the issue.

I have never seen this tweet. He admitted voting for Obama? Damn!!!!
Didn’t know if was fake until now. Thanks for letting me know in such a polite manner... :-)
Trump is a phony and a poser, but what is worse is that some many fall for it. I thought better of FR.
National Review => Open Borders => Amnesty => Conservatism?
..National Review, conservative thinkers stand against Trump...
Yes. Krauthammer, George Will. Karl Rove, and the rest of the GOPe. Not a shock.
Is this the “establishment” again? Broken record.
I recently retweeted a tweet from Donald Trump that indicated he voted for Barack Obama. This tweet was a hoax, and I apologized to Donald for reposting it.
Glen Beck
But you know that, right? Posting known hoaxes without acknowledging them just makes you a liar.
They want to lose with the right candidate of their choosing ..
Still passing? That was the first time I had posted it. I had only seen it once before and didn’t know it was fake.
I believe that’s already been discredited as fake - like many tweets have (Beck being the last involved in a hoax tweet)...know how you can tell? It’s clear as day if you know Twitter.
No probs. :)
You know that tweet is a fake spread by Glenn Beck right? He later apologized for it.
Been widely reported and talked about here. Glenn Beck even apologized for posting it. I take your word that you didn’t know though.
What’s hilarious is that the NR has never come out with a blistering editorial against various Republicans who have held office since the 1960s compromising and working with Democrats on the ongoing destruction of our country.
Didn’t know it was fake. I don’t follow Glen Beck so I wouldn’t know about things he said. My apologies that you were offended. I promise not to use it anymore. :-)
I had the thought while listening to Fox tonight: If the GOP-E decides to support Trump, will the ‘anti-GOP-E’ and/or pro Trump folks still vote for Trump? Or will the anti-GOPE folks decide that Trump is now a part of the establishment because it decided to abandon Bush/Kasich/etc and back Trump?
