Donald Trump said Tuesday that federal regulators should increase the amount of ethanol blended into the nationâs gasoline supply.
Speaking at an event hosted by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, Trump, a real estate mogul and the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, said the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ought to follow the ethanol volumes Congress set in 2007.
âThe EPA should ensure that biofuel ... blend levels match the statutory level set by Congress under the [renewable fuel standard],â Trump said. The mandate is popular in Iowa, which hosts the nation's first caucuses.

I'm telling you there are going to be some very sad voters who voted for what they THOUGHT would happen with TRUMP and got the opposite.
Two snake oil salesmen chatting it up, talking about nothing new. So inspiring ... Not.
I wonder what they make, sell, want? that he will pander to for their vote ? It will be fun to watch.
Exactly. I am Californian also. I and a lot of other conservatives put Awnold in the governors chair. You and I now how it feels to get crapped on after electing a faux conservative celebrity with a lot of money.
The “ethanol mandate” is NOTHING but a HANDOUT to corn farmers. DUMP it, don’t Trump it!
“No, I left Spain when I was 2 years old. I was never a citizen of a foreign country. I grew up being told that you had to be born in the USA to be President. I would like to see a court rule on this definitively.”
Constitutionally it is really up to Congress, and the US Senate voted unanimously that John McCain, who was born in a hospital in Panama, is qualified to serve as President. You, who were born on a US military base, are even more certainly qualified. Ted Cruz, who was a US citizen at birth, is also qualified. In my opinion, and Donald Trump’s opinion in September 2015, it is a phony issue.
Look at the people that demanded Mitt Romney. He did not wait 24 hours to fully revert and prove everything he said was a lie.
People project their desires on these idiots. Just as if they were Democrats. They refuse to think. They Feel. And so America is what it is today.
Destroyed.
Well count me as one whom Trump has alienated.
Where are all the Trump supporters that show up on the Cruz threads?
Why did you post to me? I have no idea what you are talking about.
>> King Corn can never be killed until Iowa is no longer the first state.
My understanding is that the ethanol mandate isn’t as popular as you might think even in Iowa.
However, that’s one of MANY reasons why a smallish, relatively liberal state should not be so prominent a player in GOP primary politics.
And don’t get me started about New Hampshire. :-)
First of all, Trump just got Willy Nelson’s vote.
Second, the EPA is a program put forth by another “conservative” named Nixon.
For the last two elections we voted for rinos because we wanted the democrats to lose so badly. We still got Obama. Now we’re willing once again to vote for anyone to stop Hillary. I can only assume Trump is the one.
>> I wonder what they make, sell, want? that he will pander to for their vote ?
NH is the “Granite State”, right?
I wonder if he’ll take them for granite.
“Californian also. I and a lot of other conservatives put Awnold in the governors chair. You and I now how it feels to get crapped on after electing a faux conservative celebrity with a lot of money.”
To be fair to Arnold, he started out as governor with a referendum on measures to get state spending under control. It was only after California voted all of the propositions down that Arnold turned into Darth Schwarzenegger, and got himself reelected. Arnold is a so-so Republican, but the primary fault has always been with a majority of California voters.
All states’ primaries should be held the same day.
He lost me on this one.
>> Support for the Kelo decision and Ethanol subsidies clearly demonstrate Trump is not in favor of free markets <<
Yep, and what about his vow that he will force Apple to make all I-Phones in the USA?
I didn’t post to you. I pinged you to see if you want join the discussion as a staunch Trump supporter.
The Senate is not the whole of Congress and their place is not to interpret the constitution. I see their vote as meaningless. I may be wrong on this but I suspect that the founders would be more than OK with excluding people who were citizens of other countries until they were over 40.
