Things are looking good for Donald Trump in Illinois, where he leads Marco Rubio by 20 points among likely primary voters.
Rubio and Cruz are within 1% of each other, but things fall off substantially from there. 4 candidates received 5% of the vote each, and 2 tied for 8th place with 3% each.

Trump is doing well in every state. Even in IA it looks like a toss-up, and I’m betting he’ll take IA.
Doesn't bode well for our future.
>>> real conservatives have shrunk so badly
If so called real conservative/cruz suppoters are one we see in this forum, I think it will shrink much much faster.
When is the Illinois primary?
Cruz is my first choice but just think Trump is outshining him..Trump has the rockstar thing going for him, people are attracted to that. He clearly has the momentum & doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
I’m sure Trump has some smart people running his campaign & have advised him to stay the course, don’t go too far off the cuff..he’ll win if he doesn’t slip up.
If the vicious people here in FR supporting Trump are representative of what votes for him, this nation is in real trouble.
It bodes quite well for our future that people have spotted a phony snake oil salesman like Ted Cruz for what he is.
When is the Illinois primary? March 15
I agree that things do not bode well for our country, but it is not because there is not a lot of support for Cruz. There never was that much support for Senator Cruz, and what support he has would be eventually stolen away by Jeb Bush, America’s Pontius Pilate. Truly, Senator Cruz is not our savior, only God can save us. And he is using Mr. Trump for this purpose, if only you were old enough or wise enough to see it, instead of being so sure in your young pride and arrogance that maybe others can see what you cannot. This loud mouth, egotistical, politically incorrect, courageous, deeply patriotic, rich old man has inexplicably captured the hearts and minds of Americans from every walk of life, and like George Washington seems to be immune to the schemes and machinations of his enemies. It is he, with the grace of God, who will turn things around — that is, if truly penitent, we turn away from all the evil things infesting this once beautiful land of ours.
I meant to say:
Instead of being so sure in your young pride and arrogance you are right, and could consider that perhaps others can see what you cannot.
Actually, I'm 50 years old and support Trump as my number one. The fervency of the Cruz supporters on this forum does not seem to be translating well to the masses.
If for some reason Trump gets knocked out, I'd be very concerned that Cruz could get the job done.
We just can't afford Hillary now or ever.
“If the vicious people here in FR supporting Trump are representative of what votes for him, this nation is in real trouble.”
I think there are two sides to that coin.
I’ve noticed the same vicious cult-like support for Trump as there was from the Paulistas. I wouldn’t doubt that a lot of those Ron Paul people switched to the Trump cult.
Either way, the fact that some FR people are still fooled by that liberal Democrat conman is amazing.
Maybe they just don’t want a Canadian for president.
Maybe as his first action, Trump could annex Alberta, then everybody would be happy.
Cruz is still the only acceptable VP candidate.
If Trump doesn’t pick him he’ll have to look elsewhere, Rubio is a devious midget.
Go Cruz.
the fact is that Ted Cruz just doesn’t appeal to the average guy like Trump does.. he debates for points instead of message.. I could see it from the start.. I bet Ronald Regan campaigned in more factories and industrial plants in a month than Ted Cruz will all election season.. Unfortunately for Cruz Trump doesn’t have to but he does
those are the voters who turn elections into landslides .. you don’t start wave elections by trying to impress every little old church lady you are as pure a christian and Conservative as her minister.. Huckabee found that out.. Reagan didn’t wear his religion on his sleeve he talked economic policy to turn the country around again,, oh look Trump’s message...
in the end Lunch Box Johnny wants to know how are you going to seal the border so my wages can start going back up and how are you going to keep our jobs from going overseas.. there is only ONE candidate that makes those two things virtually his whole campaign.. add that he’s been a proven success at what he does in the business world and that he doesn’t take crap from anybody and you have a winning formula ..
Cruz cannot compete with that.. just like GHW Bush could not compete with Reagan when he hit the sweet spot with everyday Americans.. the average guy would love to work for Alpha male Trump.. They like him and his Pattonish style.. not so much Cruz who is a wonkish ideologue whose personality is anything but Alpha male
and then Hillary is a lot like Carter in 1980 and you remember what happened to him with Joe Lunchbox
do you want to jump on Trump’s plane and fly to Florida to play a few rounds of golf and then hit the beach with the babes or go to Ted Cruz’s house for coffee and talk policy wonk stuff?
that’s what Cruz is up against with Joe Six pack.. the only hope for Cruz was for Trump to implode and then take over.. well that hasn’t happened and for all the Cruzbots it’s getting very frustrating to realize Trump(who they knew would implode and their guy take over) probably isn’t going to implode anytime soon and they are now running out of time to where even the GOPe people have pretty much realized what has happened
Cruz decided to play it safe for 7 months and not go after Trump.. well sometimes you have to play the cards you dealt yourself.. IMHO Cruz should have gone after Trump right off the bat with his past associations with Democrats and his views back then.. he waited too long and now people just don’t care now,, they view Trump as a leader of a huge anti establishment movement.. For Ted Cruz to overcome that will be YUUUGE
