NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Rep. Peter King is calling out presidential candidate Ted Cruz amid controversy over the senator's comments on "New York values."
On Saturday, King tweeted that Ted Cruz was lying when he said he supports New York's firefighters and police.
"Not true," the Republican said, adding that Cruz did not co-sponsor or vote in favor of the Zadroga 9/11 Health & Compensation Act. King went on to call Cruz "a fraud."
@tedcruz can't tell truth. Says he fights 4 cops & firefighters. Not true. Didn't cosponsor or vote 4 Zadroga 9/11 health bill. What a fraud

I think they assumed he would be a republican businessman!!
Does anyone remember the rather embarrassing cat fight between Anthony Weiner Nd King on he House floor?
The fight was over what the pair were calling the First Responders’s Health care bill. The problem was that there were two parts to that bill. King had promised Weiner to push both parts, but was only able to deliver the smallest part, the actual extended health care for the New York responders.
The second part, the most important to Weiner and the Democrats, involved nationalizing the all First Responders under a single Union and spreading the cost of urban union benefits to small towns and rural areas across the country. Red State Republicans wanted no part of it.
That is what Trump and the New Yorkers are referring to as “New York values”.
Does anyone remember this nasty fight between King and Weiner?
Bingo..we have a winner!!!
The extension to the Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act was included in the massive year end tax and spending bill which Ted Cruz voted against and Trump criticized.
While Peter King is technically correct, I doubt Cruz would vote against a stand alone bill to renew the Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.
Peter may be oleaginous, but I’m talking Emperors, not Kings.
I do not believe they care what his party or ideology is. They want DC blown up.
This is the first Iâve seen of this, and Iâm dumbstruck that anyone would have thought
that the Dems dont have all of this on file and ready to go.
*************
It apparently isn’t well known across the political specturm. But at some point it
may well become an issue.
The only person who has actually stood against the establishment republicans in action not talk is Ted Cruz.....that’s why they hate him so!!!!
Did that go over your head or are you intentionally being obtuse? I was referring to Ted Cruz.
The ultimate GOP insider, McConnell, hates Cruz, but has been bought by $50k in his tight primary race from Trump. Did that poll ask what Registered Republicans thought of lobbyists? Because Trump has bought a lot of influence.
From Wiki:
“Federal legislation intended to provide health monitoring and financial aid to sick 9/11 workers is known as the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. Its sponsors include Senator Bob Menendez and Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. The original bill did not pass. The U.S. House passed a new version of the act in September 2010. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg asked the Senate to do the same. In a Senate vote held on December 9, 2010, Democrats were unable to break a Republican filibuster against the bill; the vote was 57 in favor of ending debate and 42 against...
Republicans outlined concerns around paying for the $7.4 billion bill in an appropriate way. Additionally, they also raised concerns about creating an expansive new healthcare entitlement program and re-opening the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund...The bill received final Congressional approval on December 22, 2010, and was enacted by President Obama on January 2, 2011.
The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act allocated $4.2 billion to create the World Trade Center Health Program, which provides testing and treatment for people who worked in response and recovery operations as well as for other survivors of the 9/11 attacks. There are several WTC Health Program clinic locations in the New York City area as well as a national network of clinics associated with the National Responder Health Program. On October 1, 2015, the Zadroga Act expired.”

To repeat:
“In a Senate vote held on December 9, 2010, Democrats were unable to break a Republican filibuster against the bill...Republicans outlined concerns around paying for the $7.4 billion bill in an appropriate way. Additionally, they also raised concerns about creating an expansive new healthcare entitlement program and re-opening the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund.”
Me too.
Also:
“The New York City Medical Examiners Office asserted in October 2007 that Zadroga’s death was not related to his time at Ground Zero, with Chief Medical Examiner Charles Hirsch and another medical examiner signing a statement that “It is our unequivocal opinion, with certainty beyond doubt, that the foreign material in your son’s lungs did not get there as the result of inhaling dust at the World Trade Center or elsewhere”.
Hirsch concluded that Zadroga died from self-injection of ground drugs, with Hirsch finding severe scarring in his lungs that he determined was caused by cellulose and talc granulomas and stating (through a spokesperson) that “The lung disease he had was a consequence of injecting prescription drugs”.
This is just someone else walking into Ted's trap.
I think this election, even Ted is seen as an insider, no matter what he has done, the prefix Senator will not help. Very aroused electorate.
No.
:)
No, but my response apparently went thru yours without striking brain.
His whole personification is being against the establishment....Trump showed up after the ship had sailed!!
Bwhaaaaaaa!! Bwhaaaaaaa!! Bwhaaaaaaa!!
