Donald Trump would make a good president. And so would Ted Cruz. The elite limousine liberals in New York are laughing their @sses off, when they see the supporters of two great conservatives attacking each other.
Any intellectually honest supporter of Trump will acknowledge that Cruz was not attacking the average New Yorker. He was attacking New York's left-wing intellectuals, who have the reputation of being the most arrogant intellectuals on the face of the earth. Those elite intellectuals despise average New Yorkers, and they hate the New York Police Department. These intellectuals hate America, as much as the intellectuals of the University of California Berkeley, but they have much more national and global influence than the Berkeley intellectuals.
These are the columnists who write for the New York Times, the New Yorker, and other elitist publications in that city. Politicians who get elected in New York, have a tendency to seek to appease these elite intellectuals, rather than to represent the interests of those who elected them.
Average New Yorkers are actually more conservative than we are led to believe. New Yorkers voted for Nixon in 1972 and for Reagan in 1984. Pro-life candidates like former Sen. Alfonse D'Amato and Rep. Peter King, occasionally get elected to public office.
Unfortunately, average New Yorkers live in a state where left-wing intellectuals have too much power. Despite pretensions that they support free speech, these intellectuals have imposed a tyranny of political correctness on average New Yorkers who say critical things about gay behavior and late term abortion.
The average New Yorker, even one who claims to support gay marriage, would not want his son to become gay. In March 2015, the New York Senate rejected an expanded pro-abortion law:

The elite left-wing intellectuals of New York hate Donald Trump's proposals to restrict immigration, because it will reduce their supply of cheap maids. The supporters of Trump and Cruz should focus on bashing these elite intellectuals, who hate God and hate America, rather than bashing the two Republican candidates.
Exactly, that’s whgat I was trying to explain-
Jaygalt- just listen to all the other candidates- on both sides- and you will quickly see they make generalizations constantly- Heck- Trump even did it with the muslims and illegals- and -most people- knew he wasn’t vilifying ALL muslism and ALL illegals when he said mexico was sending us all their criminal people over the border- etc-
I guess on this point we must agree to disagree. I do expect people to say what they mean. Especially Cruz, a lawyer and a debater, should be able to carefully parse his words almost reflexively. If I catch myself generalizing I correct myself. I think there is a place for generalities. but on National TV or in front of a roomful of cameras his comments were perhaps better phrased more precisely unless he was looking to have a sound bite to play at a later date.
On another note whether Trump is right or wrong in the instance linked below he was careful not to generalize and had sources he thought adequate to support his conclusions.

Believe it or not I defended Trump's Mexican remark, pointing out that he used the qualifier, "some"...although he waited until his next sentence which really muddied the waters.
Wouldn't take the time to defend him now.
Or did I just do that.
I believe we agree on enough other things to pass on from this point companionably.
“The values of average New Yorkers are good, pro-American values.”
NY is a big state and there are plenty of good conservatives in the upstate region. Unfortunately NYC is so infested with overwhelming numbers of hyper liberals that we have almost no chance of successfully combating them. In NY, NYC controls the state. When Cruz talks about NY values he (and everyone else) means NY CITY values.
No kidding........
[[Believe it or not I defended Trump’s Mexican remark,]]
I did too- had friends arguing he meant ‘all muslims’ and I argued trump did not mean all muslims and immigrants were the worst but that mexico was indeed sending their worst here to get rid of them- again it was round after round of nuh uh- he meant all Mexicans are scum- I also defended Trump on the muslim comments he made and said that trump was absolutely correct that we must stop all immigration until we have better vetting process- What he said w3as just a common sense no brainer comment- even though it ‘generlized’ when he said ‘muslims are killing us’- of course he didn’t mean all muslims- but the fact is that muslims are indeed killing us and we need to do everything we can to stop it-
I’ll bet last night’s democratic debate was rife with generalizations too- but I’ll not know as I refuse to listen to them-

Exactly- Most people understand this- but unfortunately people and the MSM and GOP-e insist he couldn’t have meant anything but ALL NY’ers
