Primary problem: Trump praised Pelosi as 'the best'
Politico ^ | 04/06/11 | Maggie Haberman

Posted on 01/16/2016 2:32:21 PM PST by doug6352

Donald Trump sent Nancy Pelosi warm wishes when she was sworn in as House Speaker in January 2007, praising her as "the best" in a personal note.

Trump, who’s now mulling a Republican run for president, penned the note on a copy of a New York Times article that chronicled Pelosi's swearing-in, and wrote, "Nancy — you're the best. Congrats. Donald," according to sources familiar with the missive.

...

Trump, now a registered Republican, is a former independent and former registered Democrat. And the Pelosi note is a reminder that he has a past political history of supporting both sides of the aisle.

Trump confirmed to POLITICO he wrote the note, but said it was "because I want her to do great, and I want this country to be great, and I [didn't] want her to fail as Speaker. And I like her."

“I met her a number of times and I liked her,” he added. “And I really want her and everybody in office to do great. so because of the fact that i met her a number of times and really liked her, and then she became Speaker, I sent her a note. And I wanted her, and I continue to want her and everybody else in office, to do great for the country. ... I get along with everybody. I'm very proud of that. I get along with all of these people. Some I get along with better.”

He wrapped up an interview by saying: "When I send Nancy a letter, I want her to do a great job for the country, not for her party. OK, honey?"

Its not like Trumpanzees care.

Trump could perform an abortion and serve the remains at a gay wedding reception and Trump’s pets will hoot and screech their approval.

So? Trump was nice to her in a note eight years ago, so what? Leftico is just trying to play divide and conquer again.

You poor folks probably think he’s going to name here as his V.P. pick.

You’re that out there in fantasy land.

Trump is running on everything Nancy hates, but of course this is you’re only hope.

Keep on hoping. LOL

I don’t think he would choose Pelosi. Bernie Sanders, maybe. Not Pelosi.

I don’t trust him. The good thing is that if he reverts back to his true self, then we can count on the Democrats supplying the needed impeachment votes.

The polls show what you say is true. Trump voters know all about Trump's stinky feet and do not care.

It is the undecideds and those voters still with Carson etc. that Cruz and Trump are playing to now.

Goldman Sachs is most hated company and some may not have known Cruz was born in Canada. Those voters will go Trump.

Those that did not know Trump's political history of supporting Dems will go Cruz.
The rest will hate the mudslinging, think Cruz is Jimmy Swaggert. Trump is Col. Jessup, and vote for Rubio.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked whether he identified more as a Democrat or as a Republican.

“Well, you’d be shocked if I said that in many cases I probably identify more as a Democrat,” Trump said. “And it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans. But certainly, we had some good economies under Democrats as well as Republicans. But we’ve had some pretty bad disasters under the Republicans. Including a thing called the Depression.”

In a March 2007 interview with Blitzer, regarding Sens. John Kerry and John Edwards — who’d lost the presidential race less than three years prior — Trump said, “That was a shame that that race was lost.” He added this about Kerry: “I’m so upset that he blew it.”

It was then that Trump unleashed a harsh criticism of Bush.

“Well, I think Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the United States.” Trump cited the war in Iraq, calling it a “total disaster” and added later: “Look, everything in Washington has been a lie. Weapons of mass destruction — it was a total lie. It was a way of attacking Iraq.”

In the same interview, Trump was again asked if he felt more aligned with Democrats or Republicans.

“I’m very much independent in that way. I go for the person, not necessarily the party. I mean, I vote for Republicans and I vote for Democrats,” he said.

Donald Trump is an very intelligent man with some very good ideas. But he is not a Republican or a conservative.

He was a businessman at the time. With our government, that means he was a supplicant.

Your right, I don’t care. As a business leader Trump gave to, and praise, many politicians. His job was to build and sell. Nothing wrong with being pleasant to people. No sense alienating half the population when you are in business. And he has never tried to hide it. Unlike some politicians who try to hide things.. like “loans” from crony bankers.
