While Donald Trump cynically maintains that he has no clue what Ted Cruz's phrase "New York values" means -- and while he scurrilously implies that Cruz has some sort of malicious, nasty feeling about New Yorkers over 9/11 -- video has now emerged of a nationally televised 1999 interview in which Trump seems completely familiar with the "New York values" to which Cruz referred.
Trump appeared on Meet The Press on October 24, 1999, where he had several exchanges with Tim Russert:
RUSSERT: Do you think gays should be allowed to be married?
TRUMP: It's something I haven't given lots of thought to. I live in New York City, there is a tremendous movement on to have and allow gay marriage. It's just something that is too premature for me to comment on.
RUSSERT: How about gays serving in the military?
TRUMP: It would not disturb me. I mean, hey, I lived in New York City and Manhattan all my life, so my views are a little bit different than if I lived in Iowa, perhaps --
Then there was this exchange:
RUSSERT: Partial birth abortion. Eliminating of abortion in the third trimester. Big issue in Washington. Would President Trump ban partial birth abortion?
TRUMP: Well, look, I'm very pro-choice…and again, it may be a little bit of a New York background, because there is some different attitude in different parts of the country, and you know, I was raised in New York, and grew up and work and everything else in New York City.
RUSSERT: But you would not ban it.
TRUMP: No ... I am pro-choice in every respect as far as it goes, but I just hate it.
Here is Cruz's description of "New York values" from last night: "everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro- gay-marriage, focus around money and the media."
Yes, people want a savior and have been numbed by the words of The Donald.

Right. And he began his shift to conservatism on what day? The day he mentioned in the debate — 9 11 01.
He probably knows a LOT of people who paid lip service to liberalism the same way he did up until that day. He sees a ‘new breed’ of New Yorker. But of course, some learn more quickly than others. Takes time.

Just imagine: he supported the right for a doctor to half way deliver a baby, then insert a vacuum into the base of the scull of a baby who’s head is in the birth canal, and suck it’s brains out.
Any human being who supports this procedure at any point in their life has no business being President, let alone the nominee for conservatives to get behind.

An incision is made at the base of the skull, a blunt dissector (such as a Kelly clamp) is inserted into the incision and opened to widen the opening, and then a suction catheter is inserted into the opening. The brain is suctioned out, which causes the skull to collapse and allows the fetus to pass more easily through the cervix. The placenta is removed and the uterine wall is vacuum aspirated using a cannula.

It’ better to get all “dirty” ( for want of a better word ) things out early on than to get an October surprise.
I prefer all charges (Cruz’s included ), bogus or otherwise, to be let out in the open now than later so that we can all judge whether or not they are serious.

Cruz has no hope of getting his fairy tale social conservative agenda through a rotten to the core Congress. I’m sorry to see he has apparently duped you into believing he can. He’s using religion and those dead babies for person gain. It doesn’t get any lower than that, FRiend.
Trump is simply capitalizing on a debate utterance.
He, and the rest of us, understands the original intent.
Cruz was the guy who flip-flopped on his “NY values” comment less than a minute later, as he was clapping Donald on his parry of Cruz’s own comment.
What I want is someone who’s a consistent conservative. Cruz fits the bill. Trump is too wishy washy on social issues. Cruz gets my vote.
Cruz has done way more to go after left wing NY values. Cruz is a fighter for conservative flyover country values.

Trump spends a lot of time in Palm Beach and casually talks with Rush. Rush pointed out that his transformation was not insto-presto. In fact, Rush has been openly critical of Trump pretty frequently and I get the impression that Trump still wants to appear moderate for campaign purposes, and most likely some ‘old democrat’ left in him.
But he’s already lightyears beyond the ‘G’ OP congress, and when he gets ‘close and personal’ with the liberal agenda, he will turn more to the right.
