Rudy Giuliani: Ted Cruz’s view of New York’s ‘values’ completely ignores city’s strength
NY Daily News ^

Posted on 01/15/2016 12:08:19 PM PST by springwater13

After all we have been through as a city and as one undivided nation, to have a United States senator running for President paint New York as a city consumed with greed, sin and media obsession is shocking. Sen. Ted Cruz should apologize to the people of New York for his remarks and to the people of the United States for his crass attempt to divide us. And whatever our inclinations in the presidential race, all of us should be proud of Donald Trump's strong, truthful and eloquent defense of our great city and nation.

As the late, great New Yorker, Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, made clear in his authoritative analysis of the federal budget, every year New York sends billions of dollars more to Washington, D.C., than Washington sends to us. And one of the reasons for that is Wall Street, the financial engine that makes all the programs we support, Republican, Democrat and bi-partisan, possible. When Sen. Cruz and so many of the other candidates of both parties come to New York City, they seem pretty happy to be here and are more than willing to take our money.

Well if you're willing to take our money, then show us the respect we deserve and earned and don't try to divide us from our fellow Americans.

Amazing to me that FR’s DUmmies would continue this line of attack of Cruz. I really hope they keep it up.

Why should Trump supporters jump to Cruz, the guy who goes begging to NYC QUEERS for money and then spits on GOOD New Yorkers?

You mean that's NOT a conservative value? ;)

He had every opportunity to walk it back but he didn’t he doubled down on New York values. Now that it’s blown up in his face he is changing his tune. typical professional politician, flip flop when things go south.

Am listening to Michael Savage right now. He just dumped on Cruz and said that HE was the first on Trump’s bandwagon, why Trump will win, etc. I am upset that he sought to be so devisive at this critical juncture. I think he played right along to the tune the Democraps wanted, took the bait of making a mountain out of a molehill.

I never realized sodomy was a principled conservative (TM) value. Silly me.

“I understand exactly what Cruz was talking about.”

None of the things you talk about understanding were things that Cruz actually said.

Cruz attacked “New York values”. He did not say New York City values. He did not say New York liberal values. He did not talk about any of the NY politicians that you listed.

Cruz was attempting to attack Trump but ended up attacking everyone in New York State.

Thank you for the kind words in the beginning, but I used a perfectly good word. Using an epitaph would have been worse.

I'm an expat New Yorker, but NYC is still in my blood. I'm from an old NYC CONSERVATIVE family and Cruz insulted not only me, but all of my ancestors.

Look, it's like when someone picks on your sibling, whom you have been fighting with forever. All of a sudden that doesn't matter...you go after the person who attacked your sibling; tooth and claw.

Does that help explain my posts now ?

Good Lord, you are delusional. Are you off your meds? I guess it’s par for the course to those like you, who worship at the altar of St. Cruz.

Ted was stupid. He remains quite intelligent, but acted stupid.

Cruz nailed it.

Two years ago, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared that "conservatives who are right-to-life" and oppose liberal Democrats on gun control and same-sex marriage "have no place in the state of New York, because that's not who New Yorkers are."

It was not an effective attack. Cruz angered and alienated a lot of people for no reason.

Rookie mistake.

He will do better in 2024.

I'm not sure what it is that you just said. Sorry.

Savage was the first on Trump's wagon, Savage was?

The Dems wanted what?

“So you are saying that Trump will implode.”

Eh, you are putting words out there that were never uttered.

I said that Southerners, who care about social conservatism, will rethink pulling the lever for Trump. Never said implosion, just an enhanced alternative for the fed-up people who believe there is more to conservatism than just fiscal, embodied by Trump.

I have met Ted, his wife and kids over a friend’s house when he was running against Dewhurst in the Senate runoff election.

He is a family man, and genuine. Southerners put a premium on that and, like I said before, my time spent in NY exposed me to a lessened degree for the same by those folks.

Heh. It was just a parody of what some people would post.

I was wondering if I got it a bit too on-point!

We knew what Teddy meant if you did not.

What you think has nothing to do with how OTHERS feel.
