Tonightâs GOP debate was Ted Cruzâs night. He went right after Donald Trump multiple times, but in a way that came across as forceful and informed, but not nasty. He also fended off a pretty vigorous attack from Marco Rubio. His strongest points came early and against Trump, when the audience would be the largest.
Trump was runner-up. He had a good moment on Cruzâs slam on âNY Values,â but Iâm not sure how defending NY values plays outside NY. His performance will confirm pre-existing views of him.

Cruz quoted what Donald himself said about New York values. He also gave total respect to the working men and women of New York.
Cruz won and Trump was booed more than once
You guys are a riot.
But he promised not to condemn Trump’s mother.
The whole ‘mother’ thing was a joke to illustrate how silly this birther thing is.
“One of only a few dozen managing directors”
Waaaaaaaaay off. I think there are between 1000 and 2000 MDs. There are also about 300 partners, who are the top tier of the firm.
niether is bringing completely irrelevant emotionally based MEMORIES of a great national disaster into a debate......based on a comment DISSING the liberal new york mindset
the independents..and they DO VOTE.will not forget that MESS
some might want to reflect on that FACT
Trump should have run on the dem ticket
Cruz's bills did not pass in the Senate because he is incapable or because of the makeup of the Senate?
The Drudge poll shows the same results every time.
They mean nothing about the debate because Trump had one good moment in the debate and that’s it.
But they do mean Trump is popular so I guess that’s something.
You are being careful in your post, and I’m not sure which way you’re drifting on that.
Not trying to be difficult, but without understanding who you are addressing, I can’t agree or disagree.
BTW: It’s okay if you don’t want to be more specific. I’m not trying to make waves for you.
Natural born Canadian at birth Ted Cruz thinking to himself, “can you believe they are eating up this bull$hit I am feeding them?”
I would sort of think that the minority 30% of conservatives in ultra-lib states, where a fair swath of their fellow citizens are loathsomely pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-homo, and immersed in leftist values, would be savvy enough to comprehend where Cruz’ comment comes from, and arguably even agree with it somewhat.
But I admit, I’ve lived the vast majority of my life in a red-state, and I don’t have any reciprocal sensitivity towards “libs” in my own state. They are people I never even regard as my fellow citizens or neighbors. They are worthless skunks, whom I’d gladly see washed out to sea with each and every cold-front.
Nonsense. New York has red diaper doper babies running the city and state. Do you think that is coincidence?
Only 15 days into 2016 and you already won top prize for stupidest post of the year!
Congratulations
Cruz did very well and shut down Trump’s birther attack completely.
Exactly. Lol.
He would be if the moderators would give him time.
But his style is not to wipe the floor so much as to deftly dissect all the points his opponents try to make.
fox is playing...... what Donny FEELS ..... about the NYC stuff
now he’s going back to the CITIZEN Birther DUNG again
he’s rattled BADLY..very badly
I expect the GOING POSTAL deal will occur before the end of February
Cruz will make a great VP with Trump leading the ticket. Unbeatable!
