OLYMPIA, Wash. - A new bill in Washington state seeks to create a statewide registry of people convicted of animal abuse.
Senate Bill 6234, sponsored by Republican Sen. Joe Fain, is modeled on a law that recently took effect in Tennessee.
Under the measure, the registry would be posted online by the state Attorney General's office and would include the names, addresses and photos of people convicted of first or second degree animal cruelty, animal fighting or poisoning. Convicted animal abusers would remain on the registry for 10 years after conviction.

The bill comes following a decision by the FBI to list animal cruelty as a Class A felonies, like homicide, arson and assault. The FBI this month began tracking and monitoring animal neglect, abuse, torture and animal fighting whether it be intentional or due to reckless behavior.

The canine unit cop that leaves his dog in a hot car will be exempted.
Just what we need. More “Scarlet Letter” laws.
They gonna teach the dogs, cats, birds, snakes, horses to read this list as well?

There have been some egregious incidents of depraved brutality, like the vermin who threw his dog off a cliff and when it crawled back to him, threw it off again to its death
and all shelters at least should know
How about a registry of politicians who lie?

Thankfully our government has time to devote to this pressing issue now that all of our major concerns have been addressed.
The O’conomy is booming, muslim terrorism has been eliminated and the national debt has been paid off.

and there will be a ‘hotline’ to ‘report people you suspect of animal abuse’ and anyone who hates their neighbor or sister-in-law or whatever will report them claiming the animals are being neglected- and the owner will become a criminal thereafter- Swell

Next we'll have pet-child custody and pet-child support ordered by the courts.

What about animal sex offenders? That would eliminate 99% of the Syrian Refugees.
Actually, cruelty to animals is part of the triad of sociopathy. Look at serial killers, nearly all of them have cruelty to animals in their background.
Don’t worry about the dog fights.
Fathers in the inner city turn out their second grade boys for “Fight Club” so they can bet on them.
My schoolteacher has had to report them to the state when the boys show up bruised and proud.
Do I need to quit petting my dogs so no one gets the wrong idea and reports me as a dog molester?
I wish that dogs weren’t so loyal sometimes.
Sometimes they walk right up to the ones that hurt them. I wish they knew when to run away as fast as they can.
This is a good idea.
at the very least, people who abuse animals should NEVER be able to get one from a shelter.
I know I would NEVER hire, or want to associate with someone who had treated an animal cruelly. A person who would abuse animals cannot possible be a decent human being.
