Mark Levin declares war on Donald Trump? Has The Great One had enough of The Donald?
American Thinker ^ | 01/14/2016 | Ed Straker

Posted on 01/14/2016 7:57:06 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Mark Levin has been trying to stay out of the conflict between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.  He says he likes both men and has both on his show.  But as Trump has escalated his birther attacks on Cruz, Levin has spent hours of airtime defending Cruz against these arguments...while studiously not mentioning who is making these arguments.

Well, it looks as though Levin has finally had enough, because ConservativeReview.com, of which he is editor in chief, has published a piece (that Levin has tweeted a link to) that exposes Donald Trump's political inconsistencies, point by point.

Entitled Trump's Questionable Political History, the article talks about how Trump met with illegal alien activists in 2013 and said he was "convinced" to support amnesty.  The article also quotes Trump saying he wanted to "expedite" the return of illegal aliens into the country and notes a quote that Trump simply had no opinion either way on the "Gang of 8" amnesty bill that Marco Rubio is being so criticized for.

The article also cites how on September 8 of last year, Trump was for bringing in Syrian refugees, but he changed his mind on the 9th.

Here's what author Daniel Horowitz also wrote:

Conservatives need to know if Donald Trump is really the man who will put Americans first and demolish the "dummies" in Washington or if his lack of a coherent philosophy will lead him to reflexively parrot the very politically correct talking points he so vehemently assails and yet has so often adopted.  Is Trump who we think he is on immigration or is he pragmatically trying to tap into a frustration to win the primary with a plan to revert to his original talking points

RE: Unless it’s Donald Trump.....

Well, he seems to have changed his mind in just a few months after finding out that Cruz is leading in Iowa.

See here:

“I hear it was checked out by every attorney and every which way and I understand Ted is in fine shape,” Trump told ABC News just before speaking at a Capitol Hill rally blasting the Iran nuclear deal.

This article argues that Ted Cruz MEETS the qualifications for being a natural born citizen:
As long as there's an argument it isn't settled. There will forever be doubt no matter what the outcome.

The Cruz supporter's wet dream of Cruz playing second fiddle to Trump as VP is dead...not that there ever was a chance.

Ted Cruz will never be elected President or VP.

Take a breath, Mr. Straker, you'll somehow survive President Trump.

“The Cruz supporter’s wet dream of Cruz playing second fiddle to Trump as VP is dead.|

That is very close to being the most inane statement I have ever read on this forum. Thanks for the humorous interlude.

Therefore, a person is entitled to change his mind.

Did you read the article. It is not about Cruz changing his mind.

People are entitled to their own opinions about what the definition ought to be. But the kind of judge Cruz says he admires and would appoint to the Supreme Court is an “originalist,” one who claims to be bound by the narrowly historical meaning of the Constitution’s terms at the time of their adoption. To his kind of judge, Cruz ironically wouldn’t be eligible, because the legal principles that prevailed in the 1780s and ’90s required that someone actually be born on US soil to be a “natural born” citizen. Even having two US parents wouldn’t suffice. And having just an American mother, as Cruz did, would have been insufficient at a time that made patrilineal descent decisive.

Yes, I agree, and I’m very sad about it. There is a reason that it’s almost time to start a new Freepathon by the time one ends. Posters have been reported for playing “hard ball” right back, in defense of Ted Cruz. Support of Trump has grown increasingly rabid and hateful to those of us who aren’t so easily convinced that he is who America needs as our next president. And now, on multiple posts, calling a man who has done more to defend the Constitution and conservatism than almost anyone, “crazy”??? I feel like the home I have always loved is being burned to the ground...

“He brought that on himself by being a devious, sneaking, liar.”

That is the kind of BS that Trump supporters fling out that piss off the supporters of other candidates.

If Trumpettes keep on with the slash and burn campaign you will lose to the RINOs in the end!

Yes. How exactly does that relate to my statement that we (FR) all agree that Trump is not a conservative?

Mark Levin is not the end all be all of the Constitution. He practically scoffs at the 10th amendment.

Sometimes Levin is right and sometimes he’s wrong. I remember when he loved Rubio like a fat girl loves candy. Now he’s on the Cruz bandwagon. Who knows where he will be next week.

I fail to see how his changing his mind on an issue that is VAGUE and UNCERTAIN and is argued by strict constitutionalists of every stripe will, therefore make us conclude that he won’t appoint an originalist to the courts if he were to be President.

If the original intent of the “natural born” were clear and he changed his mind, well yes, he is a hypocrite.

The point is — the INTENT is NOT clear. Unless we have a time machine tog o back to ask the framers what they meant, it always will be.

However, this I am certain of — Cruz will appoint justices of the caliber of Thomas and Scalia.

Will Trump do so? Well he’s all over the place on this one. At times, he tells us that he admires Justice Thomas, on the other hand he calls his sister ( a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ) a great judge.

The problem with his sister is she’s pro-choice (once even once rejected a lawsuit to stop partial birth abortions ) and pro-gay marriage.

Don’t have time to read all the replies now, though I will tomorrow, but Mark has himself a bit of a pickle:

More than once, he has had Tom DeLay on his show, as a good solid conservative, who was railroaded by Dems. True. He also vouched for him by way of asking his listeners donate to the DeLay legal defense fund.

But we have all seen Tom DeLay’s thoughts about this whole Cruz thing. I expect Levin to turn on DeLay. But DeLay is just one of many TX voters who is probably ticked off that Cruz never bothered to mention this before, including while running for the Senate.

Mark has this fantasy about some uber-conservative will suddenly win a US presidential election in 2016. Bless his heart, he doesn’t see that many of the changes the Dems worked on are now permanent. The best chance Ted Cruz has of being POTUS, are after 2 terms of Trump. When Trump has demonstrated to the country that just because you have an “R” next to your name, that you aren’t the boogie-man, Cruz will be able to slide in, all while pulling the nation to the right. Think of Reagan-Bush in reverse.

Levin is now trying to make excuses why being born in Canada is no big deal; tonight why Cruz’ financial thing was wrong —remember Levin thinks this is the smartest cat in the room. But he can’t figure out how to properly fill out a financial disclosure nor conveniently forgot he had Canadian citizenship.

I feel sorry for ML right now; his credibility is oozing away. He is beginning to remind me of some of the Obamabots.

“Fact is, if it were not for Trump, NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, including the media, Hannity, Levin or Rush would be talking about immigration or trade fiasco’s like TPA/TPP. You wouldn’t hear a word in the debates.

Trump listens. Evidently the ONLY one in politics today, other than Jeff Sessions, willing to put his ASS on the line to tell you the truth is Donald Trump.”

Lets hear the rebuttals to THIS!

The establishment want Cruz. They see him now, with his hidden campaign loans, as one of them.

The GOPe establishment wants, in this order, Jeb, Rubio, Christie, Kasich, Fiorina, Hillary or Sanders. They'll use Cruz to split the patriotic vote and soften up Trump, but if by some miracle Cruz is nominated they'll back Hillary.

“A lot of FR liberals- personal attacks on Levin, nothing on substance”

When did FR turn into DU?

I come here less and less and when I do, what I am seeing is rather depressing. The degradation between “Rathergate” and today is astounding.

to legalize Cruz, Rubio, Obama, Jindall....

It is curious how many birth-question candidates we seem to have in the presidential races in recent years.

Curious or suspicious?

Just a suggestion, there is no way to reach Trump supporters with his honest to gosh record. They just don't care to know about it!

Trump has taken to the stage and said things that many conservatives agree with. They become enthralled, almost akin with a person falling in love. Parents of teenagers are, or should be aware of this syndrome very well. No matter how a parent tries to point out facts about the object of their teen's affections, their teen only becomes angry at their parent or parents, calling them names and become almost unhealthy in their adoration and support of the object if their love.

Think of this as Trump love and adoration. Point out any inconsistentany and you're in for a tongue lashing, name calling, or worse.

Some people have "fallen in love with Trump" or at least their own feelings on matters he affirms, like amnesty.

People like me have been seething for decades watching those we supported, gave money to and voted for, stab them in the back to support cheap labor express! We now know the truth on the matter and are bound to take our country back!

When Trump came out loud and strong about Mexico sending their rapists and criminals, that registered with millions and bingo - LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!

Don't try to point out that Trump supported illegal migration or people whose votes continue that invasion for years. He'll defend it if questioned and say "it's just business" and he's right but hasn't he supported the same invasion we hate? His supporters, however, won't believe it and will attack you!
