Lady Freedom Weeps: A Picture Essay on the Hope of America's Restoration

Early on in Trump's campaign, he questioned why it was taking so long to restore the dome of the Capitol building which is an eyesore.

As you'd expect, Trump was blasted by the press for questioning the construction schedule.

Trump had a good point.   He wanted to show the incompetence of the Obama administration and its inability to complete this $60 million project in a timely way.

And to me, the ugliness of this scaffold-shrouded dome is symbolic of the corruption inside our government.  That's the point of my little picture essay.

If you haven't been to Washington DC in recent years, I think you'd be shocked at how beautiful the whole city is.  Federal tax money talks.  It's a city with gleaming buildings and new, richly-appointed architecture everywhere.  And in that way quite unlike many of America's cities that are in sad repair and are struggling amid the 7 years of economic stagnation that the fat cats in DC have brought us.

If Washington's private buildings are magnificent, why does it take more than 2 years to restore the dome of the people?  Perhaps this is another con job by the Democrats and GOPe.  It's another ruse on the public.  The White House and private buildings glitter in gold, but the people's building, the Capitol, looks like hell.

Perhaps those fat, pampering cats in DC sense what's in store for them.  When Trump gets in office, there will plenty of pink slips and vast cuts to the bureaucracy.  Trump will not put up with waste, fraud and abuse.

And running a large, successful organization already, he will know exactly what to do to clean house!

And restore Lady Freedom's pride.

If you are interested in creating your own picture essay, you may want to download and study the Excel spreadsheet (4 MB) I used to put this together.  A little practice in Excel and the free Image manipulation tool, GIMP, is all you need.  Enjoy.

It’s true! How long is it going to take to complete the task on the capitol. It looks just awful - depressing...and symbolic to darkess.

After Lady Liberty was raped by the doctors of Obamacare, the pimps of DC made the decision to tear and destroy her clothing. The savages are no better than those seen across the seven seas, wearing tea towels on their heads, and riding their camels. It is a good thing Lady Liberty wears a blindfold to absorb those tears she cries. John Boehner might have learned something from her had he tried.

BTW, Paul Ryan noticed at the SOTU circus, that he appeared to be clean shaven. What’s up with that?

When one wishes to fail, at anything, all needed to be done is just call government and they would do it well. It’s second nature to them.

...When one wishes to fail, at anything, all needed to be done is just call government and they would do it well.

Well said.

Government is no longer considered a last resort. An astounding percent of the public is corrupt.   Kennedy's famous phrase "Ask not what your country can do for you.   Ask what you can do for your country".   That maxim has been turned on it ear!

Self-Reliance is our salvation.   Always has been.

I remember when I first set up my small business 20 years ago.   A rookie business owner lacks common sense on how to run his organization.  He hears whispers in his ear: "you need more telephones, more employees, a copying machine, a bigger office..."

But if you listen to those sirens, your ship will surely dash against the rocks and be smashed to pieces.  It happened to me.

And yet, having your ship destroyed -- and even going bankrupt -- teaches you how to be smarter and more careful.  You learn to navigate and thus learn how to set a safe course to your goals.   And this is exactly the kind of time-tested, seaworthy intelligence we need in our next Captain.

But if government is your crutch, you lose your sea legs.   You lose your sense of how to move your career or business toward delivering real value to your fellow man — and rewards you and your family.

This is one of the finest posts I have ever seen on FR, I just love it! It is stunning, classy, succinct, hits all the right notes, and leaves a favorable lasting impression

Perhaps you can share your work with the Trump Campaign ... I’m pretty sure they would love it too!

Welcome to FR and thank you for sharing!

So many Americans have lost their sea legs. It is feared that many in the next generation never acquired them. Your pictorial essay not only makes Lady Liberty weep, many of my generation are weeping as well. Thank you, my fellow traveler.

About time. Hope he received a boatload of withering emails about the creepy growths on his lower face. As an old friend of mine used to say about beards and mustaches, "Why are you cultivating what grows wild on my azz?"

:-) The beard was sparse and gave nothing more than a dirt blemished face. His mother probably read him the riot act and made the boy shave it off. Either she or his ‘children and wife’ refused to kiss him until he did. Uck..everyone enjoys kissing a prickly needle cactus head./s

Thanks for your own classy words.

I'm a professional writer and analyst in the telecom and IT industries, so I get a lot of practice communicating. Even still, I love that FR has given me the opportunity to explore new media formats such as this picture essay.

I'm also pleased that Google is picking up this article in its text and image areas.

Wow I looked into it a little after seeing your post, The post office renovation started in May of 2014... so 2 years plus a few months for Trump organization to renovate the entire historical building in a 200 million project, compared to 2+ years government contractor’s have been working on the 60 million project restoring the dome across the street... Stark difference!
