Imagine Ted Cruz as president. That was the senatorâs theme when he launched his campaign last March. On Tuesday night, as President Barack Obama headed to the Capitol for his final State of the Union address, Cruz took his theme to the next level, offering up his own first State of the Union as he envisions delivering it two years from now.
Remember the IRS? Itâs been shut down, the bureaucrats replaced with tumbleweeds, the building turned into a luxury hotel by the vanquished Donald Trump. Oh, and that border wall? Not only did we build it, âDonald paid for it.â

Fun stuff
The trained debater...
Now his former professor is a
“left wing Hillary supporter” because he disagrees with Cruz about the meaning of Natural Born.
Cruz’s speech was very interesting, and, of course, has much popular appeal.
The problem I have with these speeches (regardless who makes them) is that I don’t believe they(whomever becomes President) will actually be allowed to accomplish such fine goals (like shutting down the IRS).
I would really like to see one of them, any of them, meet such goals. But I don’t think it will ever be allowed to happen.
You can’t get rid of the IRS any more than you can get rid of the Federal Reserve Bank. Every President that has tried has been shot down (and I mean literally).
Tribe was a leftist then, and is a leftist now. Cruz knows him well — and speaks with authority. Got it?
Did you read Tribe’s article? Tribe said that as he reads the Constitution as a “living document” that of course Ted Cruz is qualified to be President. It is only if you read the Constitution’s Original Intent, as Ted Cruz says he does, that Ted Cruz is not qualified to be President.
Riiiight. Like I would listen to a Cruz SOTU. He’s the only person who is almost as painful to listen to as Ron Paul & Obama, in that order. Just shut up, Ted, before my ears start bleeding.
Rafael Cruz has lived off government checks all his life. He has never built a backyard fence by himself. I will take a Trump wall over a Rafael Wall.
Cruz was BORNE INTO THE U.S.A. ;-)
Path to Legal Status for Illegals
Nice to know that FR has folks who are so immature and superficial that they base their choice on who is entertaining -- and not who is a Constitution-championing leader...
But -- what can we expect from nubes who joined up during their idol's second squatting in the Rainbow Hut -- just to troll...?
And, yes, I noticed you're from Texas; that really makes me ashamed of you.
That’s it. Tribe has Cruz hoisted by his own petard.
And Professor Tribe knows Cruz well. Got it?
LOL right on!
Rafael Cruz should know Tribe well. Both have been cashing government checks all their life.
2018? I thought the article meant that Trump won and resigned 2 years into his term after gutting everything. Hence Cruz takes over for 10 years.
And those of us who saw through the melodrama aren’t exactly pleased with rubes like you who fall for the same schtick every time, either. Or haven’t you noticed.
Something tells me the St Felito won’t be getting re-elected. And not because he’s sitting in the WH.
I didn’t know Cruz wanted to build a wall. Oh that’s right, he started talking about it about a month ago.
I might be forced to vote for the guy in the end but I surely can't imagine watching him mug it up and smirk before the cameras, while bragging on himself unmerciliously, just makes me want to throw up - and I imagine I'm not the only conservative who feels this way!
As I said, I might have nowhere else to go when I vote next Nov. but the mere thought of Trump giving interview after interview or speech after speech, as he reminds us just how lucky we are to have elected him, is enough to make me swear off TV for the next few years!
It's kind of like when smutty words first began to be uttered in the movies, one might have laughed a bit but I thought I'd lose it hearing Jackie Gleason utter the word "sumbitch" one more time in "Smokey and the Bandit"
Hearing Trump remind me how really smart he is, what really great grades he got at Wharton, what a really great job he's going to do to "Make America Great Again!"
Unlike Reagan, who reminded us, America WAS ALREADY great because of US, the American people, not him and certainly not how he was going to do it for us but how by getting "government out of our way and lives" would free us up to succeed on our own!
We felt like we were all on Reagan's team, not cheerleaders for his show!
Reagan cheered us on, not vice versa!
Finally, while I'm getting to it, Reagan never bragged on himself, his motto was, "There's no limit to what a man can do or where he can go, if he doesn't mind who gets the credit,"compared to Trump whose motto is, "If you don't give me the credit, I won't do the job for you!"
