Imagine Ted Cruz as president. That was the senatorâs theme when he launched his campaign last March. On Tuesday night, as President Barack Obama headed to the Capitol for his final State of the Union address, Cruz took his theme to the next level, offering up his own first State of the Union as he envisions delivering it two years from now.
Remember the IRS? Itâs been shut down, the bureaucrats replaced with tumbleweeds, the building turned into a luxury hotel by the vanquished Donald Trump. Oh, and that border wall? Not only did we build it, âDonald paid for it.â

Lawrence Tribe was a professor of Cruz ..????
Do you have him confused with Dershowitz (Harvard Law)???
Cruz is a fun guy. That was entertaining, innovative and informative.
I can’t think of another candidate who could have carried it off.
“Tribe” .. are you confusing him with Dershowitz (Harvard Law)?????
Expecting a bunch of humorless, defensive, nasty Trump trolls to join us in 3-2-1
â¦âWhen Cruz was my constitutional law student at Harvard, he aced the course after making a big point of opposing my views in class â arguing stridently for sticking with the âoriginal meaningâ against the idea of a more elastic âliving Constitutionâ whenever such ideas came up. I enjoyed jousting with him, but Ted never convinced me â nor did I convince him.
At least he was consistent in those days. Now, he seems to be a fair weather originalist, abandoning that methodâs narrow constraints when it suits his ambitionâ⦠~ Laurence H Tribe (Harvard)
non-squiggly version here:
Good post.
I’ll be voting for Trump if he gets the nomination but Ted would be so much better.
“... humorless, defensive, nasty Trump trolls ...”
Oh you poor thing .. does it hurt much.
I'd love another opportunity to vote for someone I truly liked and was proud to support.
I've not had that opportunity since 1984 and it breaks my heart!
"Laurence Tribe, a constitutional law professor at Harvard whose students include President Barack Obama and Supreme Court justices John Roberts and Elena Kagan, hammered Cruz over questions about his presidential eligibility because of his birth in Canada..."
Per http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/12/politics/laurence-tribe-ted-cruz-birther-argument/
I never knew he was Tribe’s student .. Dershowitz was the only Professor I heard talked about.
Thanks for the info.
I can’t remember Reagan signing any employee checks on front of the check. Trump has signed 100,000+ employee checks ON THE FRONT! Making good in the tough main street real world economy trumps cashing government checks all your life. Like Rafael Cruz, who has been cashing government checks all his life.
From 2013:
“A Senate committee rejected an immigration-legislation amendment offered by Sen. Ted Cruz today that would have added significant security resources along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The amendment proposed tripling the number of Border Patrol agents stationed along the U.S.-Mexico border and quadrupling equipment, “including cameras, sensors, drones and helicopters,” within three years. And the 700 miles of border fence required by a 2006 law would need to be finished.”
Cruz’s senate race had border control and illegal immigration as one of it’s main focus points.
Ask your mom to tell you about him.
Sounds like you've memorized most of Trumps boasting comments a bit there.
Which private sector companies were owned by Reagan? From what I remember, he worked as radio sportscaster, then became an actor, followed by labor union activist, then became a politician. Where is the history of entrepreneurship in private sector.
Since your memory is better than mine, please list something real, instead of denigrating my memory.
I have no idea what that is.
Fair enough, but two points.
First:
A fence is not a wall. It’s not a trivial difference in my opinion.
Second:
there was nothing substantially different about what Cruz was supporting in 2013 from what was already law. We already passed a bill in 2006 to build 700 miles of border fence, and it hasn’t been built yet, because there’s been no will to do so. So basically what Cruz was supporting was little different from the current law which most politicians already give lip service to supporting yet never seem to find a way to make happen.
Passage of his amendment wouldn’t have made border security a reality any more than current law does, IMO. What will finally secure out border is not merely passage of a law which both parties conveniently ignore, but a tough Executive who makes border security his personal issue and among other things builds a substantial wall.
Increased border security, drones, Everify etc. are all solutions which can easily be undone by future administrations. They’re solutions designed to manage the problem, not solve it. A wall is forever. It will be there whether future administrations like it or not.
I believe you’re overthinking this. Or maybe basing it on too small a subset. He has changed it to WE are going to Make America Great Again, but I can pinpoint exactly when that happened.
But whatever. We all have our preferences & the things that repulse us. The bottom line is that we need to stop this influx of foreigners, get our manufacturing base back, stop giving everything away, & cut out/ keep out all the socialist crap the left- and their accomplices on the ‘right’, have been burying us under.
The other bottom line is Cruz isn’t going to do any of that because the people who own him are how we got where we are. BTW- they do not give a flip how debauched our society becomes as long as the money keeps flowing their way. And they are well accustomed to lying every time they open their mouths.
Vote for who you want, go ahead & vent, but don’t expect people who’ve had enough to continue accepting more of the same. They’re your guys, YOU straighten them out.
Well, we know about Lawrence Tribe, don’t we? He hates the constitution and hates America. He cried when Reagan brought down the Soviet Union because he yeared for the days of Stalin.
Is that you King George?
