Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are Tied in Iowa – 27% Each
Overtime Politics ^ | 1/11/16 | Fred

The Iowa Republican Caucuses may come down to a photo finish. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are tied with 27% of the vote each.

Apart from the 27 percenters, Marco Rubio takes 3rd place with 15%, with Ben Carson behind him at 9%.

The rest of the field holds 18% of the support, with another 3% undecided. Unlike the Democratic Caucuses in Iowa, once you commit to a candidate, your vote is finalized. There is no support threshold, meaning the top candidates cannot benefit from lower tier candidates not getting enough traction.

Slightly frustrating efforts to read into how this will affect the delegate count is the fact that the voting percentages may not reflect the allocation percentages. Doing well in Iowa is important to give campaigns momentum as they move into the other 3 February voting states, and then finally into Super Tuesday, March 1st. A poor showing in Iowa, combined with either low poll numbers in New Hampshire, or another poor showing in their 2nd in the nation primary, can lead some of the lower tier candidates to drop out. As candidates drop out, their support has to go somewhere, and even just a few extra percentage points can help capture additional delegates, especially in winner-take-all states.

As it stands, the top 5 right now will probably stick it out until at least March 1st. If this is still a 7+ person race during the second week of March, I would be surprised. Registering low single digit support in the early states, and especially on Super Tuesday, basically guarantees a candidate's donors will dry up quickly.

We will release one more Iowa poll on January 31st.

We know it’s not coming from you personally...it’s coming from the media...remember Rush keeps telling us that ‘abc says ‘wipe out’; nbc says; ‘wipe out’; the media gets a word or two and builds their stories around it...

The media hates Trump, but can’t get enough of him, Trump hates media and feeds them what he wants to....

We Trump supporters know what there is to know about Trump, he drops things in his rallies and then we find them and know what he is talking about...examples are: Carson and Cruz; Muslims...Paris; San Bernadino and now Philly....

We know that is how the media works, and it’s just not Trump supporters than know all this, it’s the American People are waking up to see what this liberal government have done to us, examples: We gave the House and Senate Republicans in 2012 and 2014 and they haven’t done a thing except push thru the obuma muslim liberal agenda....

Some FR's are starting arguments on Trump threads so the thread can be pulled.

And some folks simply object to you personally, and your attitude gets the thread pulled.

Now.. let's have some misused scripture.

Yeah it would be nice if people simmered down. But calling Trump and his supporters fascists over eminent domain is far different than pointing out Heidi Cruz’s CFR connections. It used to be any association with CFR was a fatal flaw to any “true conservative”. Weird how that changed.

Now.. let’s have some Blessed, Truthful Scripture!

Proverbs 14:7 - “Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.”

I agree. Did you see this?

Phyllis Schlafly is amazing. Some great Freeper turned me on to the The Barry Goldwater 1964 Campaign 50th Anniversary Forum. We are watching history repeat itself.

If you have 9 minutes watch from 6:10- 15:39 of this video with Schlafly describing how the establishment of the Republican Party takes out grassroots candidates. This is really timely...

It looks like Cruz peaked too soon.

Go Trump!

I like Cruz and would vote for him in the general election without hesitation.

That being said, I think his presentation really leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t think he will do well in a general election.

And hat is the most important point of all.
Iowa does not know how to pick a winner.

That will stop this behavior

Give me a break.

You Trump folks sound like a broke record.

“TPA!!! H1b!!!!”

One of which your wonder boy USES in his companies, the other is a flat out lie about Cruz.

The only broken record is Cruz strutting about telling all he is the Lion of Conservatism while at the same time he is campaigning for the globalist agenda in the U. S. Senate.

Sorry but if the shoe fits you gotta wear it, kemosabe.

Fact: Cruz campaigned with Amnesty Ryan to pass Obama’s TPA.

Fact: Cruz wrote a U. S. Senate amendment increasing the broken H-1B program by 500% and campaigned for it for 2 years.

You need to face the reality that Cruz has a real conservative blind spot on globalist issues. No campaign season hot air can change Ted Cruz’s record of being pro-globalist as a U. S. Senator. That really shouldn’t be a surprise given that his better half is a former Bush admin official who cashes Goldman checks. A little pillow talk no doubt goes a long way in explaining Cruz’s trips off the Pro-American conservative reservation.

As for Cruz’s Social Conservatism, the progressives in the GOP will never allow that agenda to get through Congress. If they can’t even engage in a substantive defund PP fight after the baby chopping video episode, they never will. This is a generational battle and no one POTUS is going to win it.

Here’s news unless somebody beat me to it. American Research Group’s latest poll, Jan 6-10, has Trump at 29, Cruz at 25, Rubio at 10.

I looked & looked for the poll I referenced this AM, no luck, but I think some else may have posted it to the thread later.

lodi, it’s not a blind spot. He is a globalist. The dominionist beliefs his father preaches about reconciles much of what’s perplexing about Ted Cruz.

It's well-known that JimRob is (like many of us) a supporter of both/either of them, so I wouldn't get too down about that. Plus, there are thousands of topics about either/both of them.

Some naughty keywords are pretty amusing, but I’d venture to guess that’s not necessarily their intent.

Calling any non-fascist FReepers “fascists” should be grounds for a FR timeout, and permanent ban on second infraction, IMHO.
