In an exclusive hour-long sit down interview with Breitbart News, 91-year-old conservative icon and living legend Phyllis Schlafly declared that Donald Trump "is the only hope to defeat the Kingmakers," and detailed why she believes Trump alone will return the government to the people. She warned that if immigration is not stopped: "we're not going to be America anymore." Schlafly, born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1924, has been active in politics for more than one-quarter of all American history. She helped launch the conservative movement, create the pro-family agenda, and has led the fight against open borders trade and immigration policies. Thus, Schlafly's proclamation to Breitbart News that front-runner Trump "represents everything the grassroots want" is certain to reverberate across the 2016 electorate.

Phyllis makes a good case. I still support Cruz, but can support Trump if he avoids a RINO running mate for example.
“While Schlafly spoke warmly of Sen. Ted Cruz, she said that she’d ideally like to see Cruz on the Supreme Court during Trump’s administration. ‘That’s the place I think Cruz should go,’ Schlafly explained. ‘He’s eminently qualified for that. And that would be a perfect solution for him ... his qualifications are enormous ... His education and his experience. He would be eminently qualified for that and very good at that.”
We better get it right this time.
I totally agree that Cruz should go to SCOTUS...unless he goes to Attorney General first. Given his love of the debate the analysis would be perfect for him and he wouldn’t need coalitions to get his job done. He would benfit this country for many more years than he would as POTUS.
Phyllis Schafley is a living legend. I would not have guessed she’s in her 90s.
Maybe this was one of the big endorsements Halperin was referring to in his tweet.
TRUMP
That creates an interesting question. If Trump is the nominee and Cruz says no to a VP slot, who's out there that could enhance Trump's chances the way Cruz would?
On the other hand, if Cruz is the nominee, it's unlikely Trump would be #2. Who out there would increase Cruz's chances and broaden his base?
Very interesting read!
I think if Trump gets the nom he will pick Cruz or Rubio for his VP slot. Rubio gives him cover on the Hispanics, and the state of Florida, but personally(and despite all the recent back and forth) I believe Trump has a soft spot for Cruz.
If Cruz is the pick I believe he will choose a female VP to counter Hillary. Unlike Trump I think Cruz is vulnerable on the female flank because I don’t believe Cruz will go where Trump will go vs the Clinton’s, and will need a female attack dog to carry out those attacks while Cruz rides above the fray.
Phyllis has it wrong, they are queen makers. The people who get elected aren’t the ones who mastermind the power. They are the figureheads. They are the queens. The Prime Ministers are behind the scenes. Axelrod, Cheney, etc.
Maybe the Trump haters will cut us a break and stop calling us ‘trumpettes’. Trump is the only one with balls, leverage and the gravitas to fix the nightmare we are all living.
“You’re our only hope, Obi-Don Kenobi”
Yes that is what Trump was called here on FR today.
Sheriff Joe for AG?
I like it! Although I am wondering if his law enforcement experience would be better utilized as Director of the FBI?
Although Sheriff Joe seems pretty healthy for 83 years of age, I would be concerned about the toll such responsibilities at the federal level would take on him. He has fought the good fight, and I’d hate to see him suffer a bad end.
Another possibility: Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. We NEED him at the federal level in a Trump Administration in my opinion.
I believe that 95 percent of Republicans in elected office currently fake conservatism or repudiate it.
That narrows the field considerably.
The unacceptables include people like Nikki Haley, who’s doing the GOP response to Obama’s State of the Union.
Haley is the SC governor who disagrees with Obama as a believer that guns cause mass murder, but she does believe that a flag can cause mass murder, which is just a crazy an idea.
Susanna Martinez, the GOP governor in NM, got in trouble last month when she called from a loud adult beverage serving party she was attending to find out who called the cops to complain about the noise.
Jeff Sessions, Rand Paul, Maine Governor Paul LePage who is not officially a Republican I believe. There’s a short list for you.
