Donald Trump Targets Ted Cruz [and it's helping Cruz]
Wall Street Journal ^ | January 10, 2016 | Heather Haddon and Janet Hook

Donald Trump is taking aim at Republican presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz, a tactical shift that could be risky on two fronts: It may have come too late, and the Texas senator might actually be benefiting from the attacks......

For Mr. Cruz, being under attack by other Republicans is a badge of honor, another backer said. "It's a quasi-endorsement of Cruz to the grass roots," said Saul Anuzis, former Michigan GOP chairman.

Polls show a growing number of Trump backers see Mr. Cruz as their second choice. Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler said that when the campaign began, polls showed that only 4% of Trump backers saw his boss as their second choice. A new poll by NBC/SurveyMonkey finds that number has risen to 39%.

The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found that 66% of Trump voters said they would consider supporting Mr. Cruz -- far more than other major candidates....

With so many legal experts and Cruz himself stating this is a non-issue,

Mr. Trump’s choice of adviser in this matter makes me wary of his choices when it comes to appointments. Is this man one of the great experts he will depend on for crucial issues?

Well, I guess ... Trump made him (Corey Lewandowski) the big Kahuna...his campaign manager.

See, he really is a compassionate conservative. Don't worry, be happy.

More benign than actual attacks - this defangs those who would wait i=until September and make a big push to put doubt in folks' minds....

Trump knows this and it also puts to bed the claims he's a Left-wing plant....

This is where Trump has put his erstwhile conservative supporters. Defending the involuntary taking of private property to benefit a specific individual and the quest for personal gain.

And then using the classic social model exclaiming, see how the populace is better off?

Bernie Sanders, is that you?

“chucked all your credibility out the window.”

I have noticed that that “credibility” line is being used here lately. I mention the the use by Cruz of the liberal talking point “our immigration system is broken” and you snicker back about the loss of my credibility. That evasion is just a bit too obvious.

Trump, himself, says he’s doing this to help Cruz.

5:54 mark - but you should watch the entire 4 minute exchange [actually 3:00-6:00]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4cXVxCrqPc

Ridicule, innuendo and lies are his stock in trade.

He doesn't argue policy because he can't argue anything.

Pelley: Who are you going to raise taxes on?

Trump: If you look at actual raise, some very wealthy are going to be raised; some people that are getting unfair deductions are going to be raised.

Pelley; But Republicans don't raise taxes.

Trump: We're not raising taxes...

You are halfway there. I don’t take Trump seriously as a conservative candidate. He’s clearly a serious candidate who may well represent the GOP (and by extension, the GOPe), but he is not a conservative.

"secretaries-of-state can keep him off their respective ballots"

Certainly, though not because of nuances relating to his birth certificate.

The thing is, we see no difference between a scumbag like Trump and your common liberal like a Clinton.

How Trump supporters can be so blinded by the glitz and celebrity of such a terrible “conservative” candidate like him is beyond me...

DT did not even know how the law worked in taking this to court. He is great at saying all he is going to do and forgetting congress has to pass a law first. He knows how to screw people to make money and is a world class braggart and bully. That Gallup poll showed 23% polled did not know who Cruz was, keep it up DT, lots more know now.

The NOBILITY and the SELFLESSNESS of this great man is awe-inspiring. He is to be worshipped and held in reverence. No man is his equal...in any aspect. /sarc
I’d laugh but it is so true and exactly at the heart of DT - to be worshiped.
Trumpees know not what they wish for.
