Now with Trump, it seems there is a way to work through this in a way that doesn't threaten to interfere with conservative victory in 2016. First of all, Cruz, while better on the entire spectrum of issues, is less capable of taking the purple states, and maybe a few of the blue ones, than Trump, in my opinion. You may disagree. Second, he is on our side on illegal immigration, which to me is issue number 1. If we don't ship those people back now, they will give the Democrats a majority from here to the end of time. Trump says he will do that. I believe him. If he does just that one thing, it gives conservatives a chance to compete on all the other things that we love about Ted in the future.
So, to me, the best of all worlds is a Trump victory with Cruz as Vice President. Cruz can deal with that issue as VP over the next 8 years, and it will be decided, finally and fully. Vice President is subject to the same requirements as the President, because the VP must be eligible to be President. Then, after it is adjudicated, he can run for president, and build on a foundation of a good economy, jobs for Americans, and a strong national defense. He can then address the other things, decentralization, social issues, judicial overreach, that an intellectual conservative cares about.
What I hope I don't see is freepers attacking Cruz or Trump viciously because they don't want the other to win. It is not helpful to our long term interests. I want either one to win, and I want our country to win. If one or the other is a deal breaker for you, you may be in the wrong forum.
Declaration of Renunciation (was taken at the same time as oath from January 1, 1947 to April 2, 1973)
I hereby renounce all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign sovereign or state of whom or which I may at this time be a subject or citizen.
But still...
I don't know if she did or didn't. I can speculate all day, and reach all kinds of conclusions using "facts" that may or may not be true.
Don't you think it would be better for Cruz to put all the documentation and facts out there now to prove his eligibility to everyone's satisfaction, instead of letting this fester?
“... But it’s the claim that Cruz’s mother became a Canadian citizen just because her husband did that I’m doubtful of. Eleanor Cruz was an adult. For her to become a Canadian citizen then she should have gone through the naturalization process as well; being married to a naturalized Canadian wouldn’t have done it on its own. And I’ve yet to see any evidence she did so.

There you go again...being logical and wanting to see actual evidence. Don’t you get it...innuendo and allegation should be enough...it’s the seriousness of the charge that’s important and not whether the charge is true.
Or, perhaps, you’re just being a constitutional conservative and sticking to the truth. :^)
US Constitution Article 1 Section 8 -
“To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;”
Thus the rules of naturalization which includes who does and who does not need to be naturalized, is vested as an enumerated power of Congress, exclusively.
Congress expresses it’s will via laws called acts. In the first acts of Congress, they passed the Naturalization Act of 1790 that clearly establishes that a natural born citizen does not HAVE to be born on US soil if born abroad to US parent(s). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturalization_Act_of_1790
Further, the current law as expressed in US Code Title 8 section 1401 (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1401). In subsection G:
(g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years:
Clearly indicates that Sen Cruz, via his mother’s citizenship, was a US citizen at birth and as such was naturally born a citizen and did not, does not, and will not EVER need to be naturalized.
Yes, LOL, that will be coming any minute now, if we all just wait for it...

WTF? I’m getting a little tired of the lack of coherence in this thread. What the hell does this have to do do with TED Cruz’ US citizenship?
Precedent has already been set that “Natural Born Citizen” does not conflict with citizenship in another country at birth. The Kenyan thug was (according to factcheck.org and some White House posts) a Kenyan citizen and a British citizen under similar rules to those that gave Cruz Canadian citizenship. That is not how I would have interpreted NBC, but Cruz meets the same standard as the traitor did, so he is legally eligible, plus Cruz loves America and supports freedom. That’s good enough for me, both legally and as a voter. Cruz has my vote.
Did you argue as forcefully about Obama’s “natural born citizenship” status?
I didn’t think BHO was a NBC and don’t think Cruz is either. Alas, our SCOTUS ducked on the questions presented, and left enormous ambiguity. Obama at least claims he was born in the USA, whether true or not. Cruz isn’t making even that claim. There is no comparison to McCain whose family was in Panama at the time of his birth “in the service of” the United States of America. Again, Cruz cannot make that claim. And, as I understand it, Cruz had dual citizenship based on his Canadian birth until a year or so ago. Had the SCOTUS followed the strict interpretation of the Framers’ intent, I think Cruz would be out of luck on this. As it is, his status is ambiguous.
Damned few of us left it seems. I imagine you feel lonely at times as well.
He wants to expedite them back.
That's a legalization amnesty.
I'm sure Ryan and McConnell will sign off on it.
“Time to bring in Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the whole posse gang and weâll get to the bottom of this EARTH SHATTERING NEWS.”
Dr. Orly Taitz, Esquire, will be available later today, after her dentistry appointments, and her real estate appointments.
Her involvement would make a big impression, on contemporary voters.
Ted Cruz’s only claim to citizenship at birth is through his mother. If she wasn’t a citizen when he was born (having renounced it in order to become a Canadian citizen) then he wasn’t a citizen at birth and he’s not eligible.
The “evidence” is inherent in the declaration of renunciation that was required for Canadian naturalization at the time.
Did you argue as forcefully about Obama’s “natural born citizenship” status?

If Obama was born in Kenya (to a mother who did not meet the rules for having a US citizen overseas — such as being over a certain age and having spent a certain time [in a certain time period] present in the US) then he was not a US citizen at birth.
So, please, if you find EVIDENCE that Obama was born in Kenya let us all know. Actually, if you find evidence of just about anything about Obama’s past, you’re a miracle worker since most or all that has been destroyed or locked away.
Sorry.
The immigration and naturalization act of 1790 specifically EXCLUDES Cruz.
It says... “not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States.”
Besides, at this point it’s talking about citizenship, not natural born citizens.
The “evidence” is inherent in the declaration of renunciation that was required for Canadian naturalization at the time.

Evidence for what???
