Pit bulls? No surprise here.

Terrible.

I keep hearing that Labradors, or golden retrievers, or chihuahuas actually bite more often than pit bulls. But the more important fact is that pit bulls maul people to death more than other breeds. Chihuahuas ... not so often.

Laura Badeker, Tyler’s aunt, said ...Alexandria was incapable of caring for him, and that her living circumstances and dogs put the boy at risk.

...She said she repeatedly told the agency she thought Tyler was unsafe with his sister, ... “But I told everyone on the team that was supposed to be protecting Tyler that Ali was not prepared to take care of him on any level. They were warned over and over again.”

I think little dogs are more prone to bite in general because they seem to be easier to frighten. But they also are easier to fight off if they attack you. Really who is scared of a ferocious Chihuahua?

What responsible adult would leave a child alone with any dog? Adult should be charged with a crime.

Depends on the dog and the child. Is it irresponsible for an adult to leave a child alone for a few minutes with a family dog that knows the child is in its pack? But it is irresponsible to leave a child alone with dogs that view the child as a stranger.

I would never leave a child alone with any animal. I’m over protective in that way. Nothing bad would happen to an innocent child though.

Kid was doomed from birth. He had mental problems. Parents were drug addicts and mental cases and the wacked out sister left him with mental case dogs. Funny how people like that identify with pit bulls. Wonder if she still feels they are “unfairly stigmatized”? Child endangerment. Neglect and negligent homicide charges for her AND the officials!

Usually it’s people that let their dogs kill people. Dogs are animals that will kill if given the opportunity. The owners should not let them have that opportunity.

A 9 year old is a good sized kid. How tragic.

The sister should be arrested and charged for endangering the poor boy’s life. Why? Because she took on the responsibility of taking the boy in, stating that she would care for him. Obviously, she did not. There are other cases of parents being arrested and charged for letting their (older) child be alone in their front yard, or walk to school alone. And in those cases, no harm came to the child nor was the child molested. In this case, the child died a cruel and painful death. All because of the irresponsibility of the adult sister who pleaded to take him into her care. She set up the situation for his death, by leaving him alone with strange dogs. Yes, the dogs most likely viewed him as a stranger, since he was new in their midst. Arrest and charge her.

Pit bulls make up only 6% of the dog population, but they're responsible for 68% of dog attacks and 52% of dog-related deaths since 1982, according to research compiled by Merritt Clifton, editor of Animals 24-7, an animal-news organization that focuses on humane work and animal-cruelty prevention.
..

.. pit bulls are inherently dangerous no matter how they're treated, because violence is in their DNA.

The only way my 5 lb. Yorkie could hurt anyone would be to kiss them to death. She loves everyone.

Something's wrong with Child Protection Services, when they let a boy visit a pit bull breeder...

It should be called Child Unprotection Services...

I happen to disagree from many years of personal experience. All pit bulls that you read about are owned by a human that allows their animal to contact with others. The human is responsible. Keep your dog under control as I have.
