Ammon Bundy emerged from a small brick building at the headquarters of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge shortly after 11am.
He wouldn't say how many protestors were present at the site of the occupied federal complex, but fewer than 20 people were visible Sunday afternoon.
The leader of the occupation spoke in cool, calm tones as he explained why and other self-described militiamen broke into and took over the complex Saturday......
Protestor LaVoy Finicum, an Arizona rancher, said they're being careful not to damage the buildings or property. He claimed the protestors accessed the buildings after they found a set of keys. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service disputed that claim.......
When asked how long they plan to occupy the complex, Bundy would only say, 'for as long as it takes.'
Finicum said he plans to stay 'until the constitution is upheld." They brought food, fuel and supplies and local supporters visited the site Sunday adding to the stockpile.
Bundy said he hasn't heard from any law enforcement "since we made the stand." No officers were visible near the refuge, nor were marked police vehicles patrolling the remote ice-covered highways near the site.
But Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden said federal and local officers are paying close attention.
"They're following it literally by the minute and that's whey it's so important that we have this close coordination between the FBI, which of course takes the lead at the federal level, because of the wildlife refuge, and the state police and the Harney County Sheriff's Office," Wyden said.
Oregon state police told OPB that a joint command center of federal, state and local law enforcement offices will be established Monday.......

There is so much wrong with the case that is behind this “armed right-wing terrorist” activity (as the media is portraying it).
Even if only a small fraction of whatI have read regarding the back-story is true (and I have absolutely ZERO doubt that far more than a fraction is accurate), then justice has been FAR from served in this case, and the Constitution has been so thoroughly thrashed as to make it far less valuable than the cheapest generic toilet paper.
I’ve read opinions from very knowledgable attorney-types who say that without a doubt, the case involves clear double-jeopardy. But even prior to that - the entire case against the Hammonds was a long-term political battle by an extremely over-reaching, over-powerful government. Tyranny is putting it mildly. And the local law enforcement there (particularly the Sheriff’s office) are complicit in the malfeasance against this family.
The Hammonds should not be going to prison. This is a travesty. Trump/Cruz get after this the government in this is pure evil.
The Cold War is getting warmer.
Ron Wyden is scum. He lies about everything.
He’s a disgrace and has been instrumental in destroying most of Oregon.
Media calls these people terrorists, yet you have Black Fecal Lives Matter protesters taking over schools, and calling for cops to be murdered and that is considered “Democracy”
All details of govt. corruption here;

This is going nowhere but bad for Bundy and the occupiers and good for Barack Obama.
The timing is just too convenient to be anything but a setup by the feds.
Hope we don’t end up with another Branch Davidian massacre or Ruby Ridge assasination.
Laz, have you seen Matt’s graphic? LOL
Looks like it. The Hamonds got shafted by a mendacious government. Hope they win.
Send them cases of beans. That will clear them out of that old stone building. One earthquake and those two buildings will kill and injure most.
The situation is supposed to be about the Hammond’s. Well, the Hammond’s have asked the Bundy’s to stand down.
So what are the Nevada Bundy’s doing in Oregon?!
Classic setup.
I can't see this being a set-up unless the FBI has a man on the inside that is successfully inciting all of the militia members to do what would otherwise be considered reckless.
The Bundy incident was a failure by the Feds. If the militia members are prudent, this will also be a big fail by the Feds.
Obama is a coward and he will not allow any action unless he is absolutely positive of the outcome. If the militia members organize their protest such that no specific outcome can be assured, then it will remain a stand off that reflects poorly on the feds, IMHO.
And speaking of scum-sucking slime...
I'm here to tell ya that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service lives large.
I get to see their pretty, brand-new vehicles ALL THE TIME.
And BOY-HOWDY - you should see their toys. Dang.
You taxpeasant b*tches are really generous with USFWS. Oh - maybe you don't know about all the high-dollar new toys you buy them...
Ever time I drive by their big ol' vehicle compound, I just shake my head...
Malheur is an odd name for a wild life refuge. Google translates from the French as Misfortune.
The hope is that they are unarmed. If they are unarmed, there is no significant difference between them and any of the liberal goofballs like greenpeace or whoever.
in fact, if the feds attack them with weapons and they turn out to be unarmed, they become instant martyrs and a movement would gain momentum. this is not to say that i wish anyone harm, but it is just an uninformed but seemingly somewhat plausible extrapolation of the current situation. maybe these guys know what they are doing and calling the fed’s bluff. the fed can’t afford to wipe them out.
from the fed’s perspective the best thing would be to wait them out. let them run out of food and water, then they would have to com out of their own accord. perhaps their hope is to draw attention to the “cause” (as they perceive it, at least).
???
Well then, the "attorney-types" need to represent the Hammonds in court and the protesters need to go home.
Otherwise some people are going to end up dead, and Obama is going to have a news story that backs up his propaganda about white right wing extremists being more dangerous than radical Muslims.
You can't have people sitting around drinking coffee and eating MREs in a closed Federal building in the middle of the wilderness in the dead of winter. That's an assault on the very foundations of society.
They have to be removed if it takes all the HE the FBI can scrounge up and every building is obliterated completely. The people need to feel safe in their homes!
Set up for another Waco?
