Three of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy's sons and what they claim are 150 militia members have occupied a federal building in eastern Oregon in order to keep two local ranchers out of prison, according to local reports.
The group is believed to be heavily-armed.
According to The Oregonian, the group seized the headquarters building at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge about 50 miles outside Burns, Ore. The remote facility was closed and unoccupied at the time.
Bundy and his supporters were in Oregon after two men were scheduled to go to prison on Monday for setting fires on federal land, according to a report by Oregon Public Broadcasting. The case has caused a stir in eastern Oregon because the two men were charged under anti-terrorism laws.

Oops, I meant Ma’am.
Funny, not a mention of this story on the CNN home page.
“Oops, I meant Maâam.”
Haha, that was the least of my worries. Call me whatever you would wish.
Thanks for the clarification. I should have been more specific.
What the Federal government is doing to the two ranchers is wrong.
First of all, they were not trying to destroy things when they set the fires. They were practicing good land management for the benefit of their grazing rights. It just happened to be on leased federal ground. People do exactly the same thing all the time on private ground of their own.
Second, these two men served their sentences, but then a federal prosecutor pushed a judge to give them more, and so now they are trying to pick them up and send them away...for doing something that anyone knows in this country should not be a rime in the first place.
Sounds an awful lot like they did to the farmers in the Klamath Basin back in 2001...except then, it was the Sucker Fish as the tool.
I cannot say that what Bundy’s sons did was best...but I can say that people in this part of the country are sick and tired and full up of an ever encroaching federal government that creates reasons to go after anyone who will not toe their line.
I took the same oath as you to protect and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.
That does not necessarily mean that someone rising up against encroachment of their rights is the enemy, nay, more likely the ones encroaching those rights.
That same oath indicates that we would bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution...and oft times that clause right there, when faithfully followed, lets us know who is on what side of the constitutional line.
So, before you throw these people out with the wash...get all the facts. If you do nt, you could easily be led to fight against the very people you should be helping
Our founders did not want to rebel against England. They wanted to be good “subjects.” But came a time when the encroachments on their rights were just too much...and so they rose up.
Out here in the west the encroachments have been long standing and ever and ever more burdensome and more and more against the constitution.
True, we don’t have all the facts. And true, this could be ill timed, ill advised and backfire. And true again violence is never the first option.
But consider this. The U.S. Federal government under the 0bama regime is no better than any other nascent despotism of the 20th century. If we didn’t have our guns and the 2nd amendment we’d be way down the road to tyranny and death camps. Certainly, King George III’s regime was preferable to this one. And consider this. If 0bama realizes his goals, won’t we be in a worse position if there is no resistance?
Sometimes, you have to call a bully out.
This statement comes from the Harney County, Oregon Sheriff minutes ago.
Sheriff Dave Ward as quoted by “The Oregonian/Oregon Live” website and posted on breakingnews.com:
“After the peaceful rally was completed today, a group of outside militants drove to the Malheur Wildlife Refuge, where they seized and occupied the refuge headquarters. A collective effort from multiple agencies is currently working on a solution. For the time being please stay away from that area.....Please maintain a peaceful and united front and allow us to work through this situation”
I am very familiar with the issues. My brother has grazing rights East of Reno and in north Washoe County. I get to hear his stories.

Have you read their story? They’ve already done time for their “crime”.
Revolutions start this way ...
No, I realized my error. I thought they were arsons and was concerned about innocent people being hurt by those bent on creating mischief. You’ll not find me ever supporting the government subjugating those who are protecting their property.

King Obama is going to give us serfs new gun control decrees, probably on Monday. It would be real convenient if some evil white men showed up somewhere with their nasty “assault rifles” and did something crazy.
We need an armed rebellion.
Martial law incoming.
It is understandable that you would have that initial opinion. The article was intentionally slanted to make them seem to be wild-eyed arsonists.
They are controlled burns, not fire setting. This has been done by grass seed farmers and ranchers for decades. Fields have been burned after the harvest to kill off the bugs, diseases and burn off the left over straw and this has just been part of farming in Oregon. It’s not arson, it’s controlled burning.
The feds are the ones going over-board here. This has been common practice. Feds need to get out of Oregon and so do the liberals.
Agents informants, or agents provocateurs?
I recall when two guys plotted and then broke into a local draft board in 1970, and one of the two was an agent of the state. Was he the instigator?
The government should serve its citizens, not the other way around. And the government should fear its citizens more than the citizens fear the government.
As citizens, we need a legal, workable plan to set things right, to get the government off our backs and out of our personal business. (Electing true conservatives, eliminating election fraud, controlling our borders, and abolishing the IRS and other intrusive, meddling, wasteful, and useless bureaucracies would be a good start.)
