Angry Protestors Ransack and Torch Saudi Embassy in Iran

Saudi Arabia's mass execution of 47 prisoners — including prominent Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr — triggered unrest across the Middle East on Saturday, particularly in Iran, where protesters stormed and ransacked the Saudi embassy in Tehran.

Photos and video footage posted on Twitter by Iranian journalist Sobhan Hassanvand showed a mob of angry demonstrators smashing windows and setting fire to the Saudi diplomatic outpost in the Iranian capital.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi also condemned the executions. "I'm shocked & saddened at Sheikh Nimr's execution by Saudi authorities," he wrote on Twitter. "Peaceful opposition is a fundamental right. Repression does not last."

A spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry also condemned the executions, accusing the Saudis of hypocrisy. "The Saudi government supports terrorists and takfiri [radical Sunni] extremists, while executing and suppressing critics inside the country," the spokesman said.

Shiite Muslims also marched through the Qatif district of Saudi Arabia's Eastern province chanting "down with the Al Saud," the name of the Saudi royal family.

Meanwhile, protesters in Indian-controlled Kashmir, Pakistan, Iran, and Bahrain also took to the streets. Protesters in Mashhad, Iran, gathered outside the Saudi consulate building. Photos shared on Twitter suggest that demonstrators scaled the fence surrounding the consulate and removed the Saudi flag flying above it. Unconfirmed reports on social media said that protesters also torched the building.

Well hopefully this will only increase prices for American producers and other suppliers in stable regions. Both our “friends” the Saudis and Iran have been keeping it low to purposefully hurt the United States.

The Saudis do not play as big a role in the oil world as they did in the past because the US has plenty of barrels of oil to flood the market with.

If there aren't any infidels at hand muslims are perfectly content to kill each other.

As long as they are killing some other human they are a religious group at peace with themselves.

Suppose it could come to an all out, war between Iran and Saudi Arabia?

Straights of Hormuz locked, oil to $250 per barrel, etc.

Isn’t it an amazing coincidence that Congress/Obama just lifted the restrictions on U.S. oil exports, what was it, Friday?

Imagine: in ransacking the saudi embassy, the shi’its probably ransacked a koran or two, and certainly a saudi flag with all that khalafa-khalifa-akhbar drivel writen on it.
Is that permissible?

They only think they are hurting the US. Actually, most of us are quite happy with the lower gas and fuel oil prices. It is hurting Russia too, boo hoo! The Chinese are probably happy.

Iran has been even angrier that usual with the Saudis since the great Hajj disaster recently. The Saudis will only admit to under 800 deaths in this stampede. They quickly shut up a lower level official who stated 4,000 dead. More accurate statistics on the death toll have been gathered as each country updates the number of dead and missing for themselves. That figure is now well over 2,000 with hundreds still unaccounted for. Since about have the people attending were Saudis and there are NO FIGURES for them then 4,000 seems quite within the realm of possibility. Iran lost well over 400 people and are very angry about both the deaths and the cover-up. In addition SA has greatly increased the number and reasons for beheading people, and this was a final straw. I expect the Iranian government is allowing these protests as a safety valve as well.

I am of the opinion that no matter how odious the nation, its heralds and ambassadors should be sacrosanct.

But...

It is very hard to not smile about this.

Iran is recruiting and staging the protests, otherwise there would be no protests without there also being troops to gun down the protesters.

Did Obama ever fill up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, or did he sell some of it?

I’d certainly pay higher gas prices to do so with a clean conscience.
