My boarding school IS in the eastern part of Pa.! :-)

Yes, YES....the N.H. root beer place WAS by a covered bridge! Though that state had many covered bridges, I bet it's the same stand I so fondly remember.

Okay...the brand is FOXON PARK and their web site is: www.foxonpark.com

I went to school in both of them, so I sort of lived in those two states. :-)

Both are filled with history and interesting places to visit.

I see that the average industrial worker hauled home about 25 dollars a week in 1919. I would say that many people missed out on buying Coca Cola stock, and just not in the south.

Mount Washington and the “ oh my G— curve!” Laugh every time think about because my friend had just yelled it as the tape we played explained it!
My corner of the state has the hills, woods, dairy farms and crafters/artists of the New England states. Just wish it was closer to an ocean

Oh Mount Washington is really something! But The Flume is one of my favorite places and also loved speluncking among the stalagmites and stalactites.

There's just so much in the New England states, all of them, to see and do. :-)

I live within walking distance of the "Restored 1890 building where Coca-Cola was first bottled anywhere in the world in 1894."

The Museum contains reproduction bottling works, Coca-Cola memorabilia, 1900 soda fountain and restored 1890 candy store. Ice-cold Cokes, ice cream floats, Mississippi-made Luvel dipped ice cream and over 100 Coca-Cola items for sale in the gift shop. Listed in the National Register of Historical Places.

JOSEPH BIEDENHARN: "The First Bottling of Coca-Cola"

On a summer day in 1894, Joseph Biedenharn, a candy merchant and soda fountain operator, had an idea that would reshape the soft drink industry. He took the popular fountain beverage, Coca-Cola, put it in bottles, and delivered it to rural areas outside of Vicksburg.

It was the first time Coca-Cola had been sold in bottles. Mr. Biedenharn created a totally new concept of marketing the beverage and established the cornerstone of the independent network of franchise bottlers who now distribute bottled Coca-Cola all over the world.

Born in 1866, Joseph Biedenharn was the eldest of eight children and, in his teens, became part of the candy business founded by his father and uncle. Later, he and his brothers Will, Harry, Lawrence, Herman, Ollie, Albert and sister Katy acquired franchises to bottle Coca-Cola in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.

The building located at 1107 Washington Street, where the first bottling took place, was built in 1890 and is operated today as the museum "interpreting this important moment in our nation's history.

My house was built in 1881 and the owner/builder of it owned the Ice Company and went onto start the Military Park after the Siege of Vicksburg.

You do comprehend (or maybe you don’t) that it was clear to me, even as a child, that those folks were repeating family myths that I didn’t believe were reality based.
