It was the Detroit News headline "Trump goes after Ford Motor Co." not how long Hillary went overtime in the restroom that got our attention. Donald Trump made a whistle stop outside Grand Rapids, Michigan to take aim at Ford’s plans to expand production in Mexico. Trump promised if elected he would threaten manufacturers with big tariffs on imports to discourage building manufacturing plants south of the border.
Trump to Ford, "If you build that plant in Mexico, I’m going to charge you 35 percent on every car, truck part that you send into our country," he said. "Every single one." Trump went further saying he would engage in tough negotiations with car companies to build new plants in the US and Michigan. Political analysts say Trump’s proposal would at the very minimum require congressional approval and possibly violate NAFTA.

Yeah I picture you as the dog beating type.
He has VP Cruz push it through Congress.
Pray America wakes
The threat will be good enough. Trump only has to make the threat, he doesn't care about the money because unlike some people, he knows the long term benefit for the country would be better than the tax.
Anyway Congress would be salivating over the money, Ford, Nabisco, etc. knows that. Because of his popularity he already has a huge influence over Congress.

I would favor a plan to drastically cut corporate taxes (passed by Congress and signed by the Executive).
I hope you know that is in his tax plan - you never know around FR these days. Actually Trump’s plan calls for a cut to 15% and a 10% repatriation rate for stranded corporate profits. Imagine dropping 2.2+ trillion real dollars, not printed QE dollars, into our economy. Trump is THE ONLY candidate adressing the corporate inversion issue.
Exactly right.
The USA is an abundant land with a lots of potential, cheap energy and tons of available labor. Compared to Europe this is an economic regulation free zone. Yet our F-ed up Free Traitor Captains of industry continue to sell us down the river. Spit on them, Go Trump go!
He said this in one of his first rally speeches...and I agree with it...
Why are we not now charging for anything crossing our borders? Oh excuse me, I forgot, all the illegals need food stamps, housing, and health care so they can sit on their butts, eat steak and drink beer and party all night, while we ‘working’ Americans can supply the funds for that to happen...
I am in favor of cutting taxes but the lure of virtual slave labor is like crack cocaine to out illustrious business leaders.
He said this six months ago.It looks like s/he doesn't know Scott Walker dropped out either.
Trump operates at a level way over most people’s heads. He drives then locks up narratives and OWNS the keys. It’s amazing to watch. I have never seen a candidate so far above and ahead of everyone. A true leader. It’s been so long Americans have forgotten what a true leader actually acts like.
You are sooo right!
We have everything within the USA to be self-sufficient and exporting our goods to the world.
All we need is much, much less government and a drastic reduction in taxes in order to starve government into something smaller and more manageable.
It’s not ‘a 3 year old[’s] idea. It’s called Trade Imbalance. Subtract the loudness Trump is saying it and focus on WHAT he is in essence saying: Companies will be incentivized to keep business HERE, de-incentivized to move it outside our borders. And countries that have an unfair high tariff charging our stuff going in will also have a tariff for their stuff coming here.
Trump wants to stop letting America be Uncle Sucker. Simple to understand.
You live up in Michigan have your muzzy neighbors taught you the fine art of goat romance yet?
It is time to get tough with American companies who sell out to other countries. The economic destruction of America will be the end of America and there will be no going back, Where has the pride in America gone? Out the window with overtaxation to fund countless giveaway projects of the socialists and New World Order supporters. Every product that is built or made in a foreign country is strengthening that country and depleting the wealth of America. Tariffs are a good way to force a pause until taxation can be brought into order. Tariffs once supported the government so it’s time to give them a looksee again. NAFTA is another thing that needs to go if we are going to have a country left.
I hope you know a corporate tax cut is in Trump’s plan, along with a 10% repatriation rate for 2.2+ trillion in stranded corporate profits.

Making the business environment better for everyone would be a better policy.
Give them a reason to stay or expand.
Ya wanna bet?
