Trump's story on 9/11 Jersey City celebrations is finally put to rest | Editorial
Star-Ledger Editorial Board ^ | December 21, 2015

The Star-Ledger's story Monday offering credible evidence that some Muslims in Jersey City celebrated after September 11 will no doubt be used by Donald Trump and his supporters to justify the ugly lies he has been telling.

So let's start there: This was the most thorough examination of his claims yet, and it proves beyond doubt that Trump was way off base when he claimed that he saw "thousands and thousands" of Muslims joining celebrations.

Remember: The reason Trump's comments are so offensive is that he is suggesting sympathy for terrorism is broadly shared among Muslims in America when in fact it is a fringe sentiment. It is the moral equivalent of smearing all white Americans for the actions of violent white supremacists.

But Mayor Fu-lop, Jersey Journal denied any celebration at all. Let Americans decide.

Comparing Trump to a facist. “Trump’s wild claim is intended to stir up animosity against Muslims, and to tap into that bigotry for political reasons. It is a familiar tactic to anyone who has studied fascism, and it is beyond alarming that he has gained and held such strong support among Republican voters.”

And nationwide there were thousands of Muslims celebrating. Trump probably did see the TV news and thought they were all in NJ.

SO WHAT?

The fact is that thousands of Muslims nationwide and millions of Muslims world wide celebrated 9/11. And that should be enough to limit mass migration to the USA.

Effing smug victimists. Smearing all white Americans for ..... Of course this is done - routinely in all forms and manners: affirmative action regulations, bias cases in court decisions, quotas, ads that say "no whites need apply", social media, taxes on tanning beds, commedians' commentaries - everywhere in society. It is routine fact!

Whether they were on a street, on a rooftop, in a Mosque or in their homes watching TV, they were CELEBRATING in some fashion. It was only after the realization of the repercussions they started bleating out tepid support for America.

Think about the way the mind and the media work. There were definitely reports about people cheering in NJ and other US locations when 911 happened. Then, immediately after reporting them, TV turned to stories and video of thousands cheering in some mideast places.

I don't know how many cheered in NJ, there were some. That the media blended those stories for effect and to build a narrative is what they do.

The Star Ledger story is one big lie from beginning to end. First, they grossly exaggerate the “thousands” remark by Trump in an effort to make his off-the-cuff remark appear to be far beyond reality, which is the logical fallacy known as the strawman argument.

Second, they then use their dishonest strawman argument to allege Trump and anyone agreeing with his remarks about Muslims are engaging in a Fascist form of demagoguery, when it is the exact opposite with the Star Ledger and hostile Muslim jihadists engaging in demagoguery against anyone who would choose to defend their lives against Muslims who choose to attack what they deem to be infidels condemned to death by their religion.

Third, there were large numbers of Muslims, they were wearing hijabs in some cases, seen celebrating in the streets of New Jersey as they watched the World Trade Center burn and collapse. I and many other people on FR saw these New Jersey celebrations in the news, and others were present in New Jersey and witnessed the celebrations as they drove through those city streets. This has been presented in many FR threads.

Fourth, the Star Ledger lied big time about the number of Americans killed by Muslims. See:

Star-Ledger continuing the fight against racial profiling; which, of course, will entail more deaths of innocent people at the hands of crazy muslims. In a state that has a fair share of them.

The reason Trump's comments are so offensive is that he is suggesting sympathy for terrorism is broadly shared among Muslims in America when in fact it is a fringe sentiment.

For Trump's "thousands and thousands" claim to be true, only a little over 1% of NJ's 160,000 Muslims would have to have celebrated. That would fit the definition of "fringe".

The Polling Company CSP Poll (2015): 25% of Muslim-Americans say that violence against Americans in the United States is justified as part of the "global Jihad (64% disagree)

Pew Research (2011): 1 in 10 native-born Muslim-Americans have a favorable view of al-Qaeda.

Trump was using million man march math to tabulate the Jersey City sympathy for the buildings falling numbers.

This Star-Ledger EDITORIAL, obviously opinion, using it’s own Star-Ledge “examination” is no more credible than the Washington Post fact-checker who couldn’t find the Washington Post new story from September 18, 2001 which confirmed the New Jersey Muslim celebrations in detail.

Bingo!! Compare Trump’s accuracy of events with the pure fabrication of her pathetic Middle East failures and the media still come out of the woodwork to try to make him look like the dishonest party.

Sorry, Star Ledger, but Trump’s got a point. It was off the cuff and imperfectly made, but there’s enough truth in it that you guys aren’t going to be able to undo it, even by playing the race — and now fascism — card against it.

The press is not happy that they are not controlling the narrative of information in America. The broadcasting companies are not happy that they no longer control the viewing options in America. The GOPe are not happy - well they just aren’t happy. People are not into the BS. 911 attacks after today will be documented by thousands, and shared when disputes arise.

If sympathy for terrorism is such a “fringe sentiment” among the US Muslim community, then why are so many going to join ISIS?

Didn’t the FBI say there are over 160,000 people on the terror watchlist?

That’s not a fringe, that’s an active menace.

I find the FACT there were ANY GROUPS of American Muslims celebrating 9-11 totally reprehensible and it is deplorable the media is pretending it never happened. Muslims should clean up there religion.

The Star-Ledger is clearly a lefty rag which (check their headlines) slams anything Republican, but were forced to admit there was basic truth in The Donald's statement, although exaggerated.

After 5 or 6 'Christie bad' or 'Christie weak' or 'Republicans bad' headlines, they were forced to admit 'Trump story Settled'.

Settled ? Is that all you've got ? Tantamount to confirmation in a Star-Ledger universe.
