Trump Backed Amnesty For Illegal Aliens Only Last June
Investors Business Daily ^ | 12/17/2015 | Editorial

Posted on 12/18/2015 4:01:41 AM PST by expat_panama

...he was for amnesty before he was against it...

[snip]

...from the No. 1 defender of deportation. At the end of June, speaking to the press in Chicago and after saying he "heard you probably have 30 million" illegal aliens in America, Trump contended:

"You have to give them a path, and you have to make it possible for them to succeed. You have to do that. But the bad ones, and there are bad ones, you have to get out, and you have to get them out fast."

[snip]

...Trump, interviewed by Newsmax's Ron Kessler, blasted Mitt Romney's "crazy policy of self-deportation." It was "maniacal," he said, contending it cost the Republican "all of the Latino vote" and adding "he lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country."

Trump told Kessler that the Republicans must develop comprehensive immigration reform "to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful, productive citizens of this country."

[snip]

..."The Democrats didn't have a policy for dealing with illegal immigrants, but what they did have going for them is they weren't mean-spirited about it. ... What they were is they were kind."

[snip]

Trump sneered, "Jeb (Bush) is a very nice person" and "Jeb said when they come across the southern border, they come as an act of love." But Trump's reference to immigrants, legal and illegal, as "people wanting to be wonderful, productive citizens of this country" sounds awfully similar.

"I have a very hard-line position,"... ..."People that have come into our country illegally, they have to go."

"They have to go" is quite a flipflop from the "you have to give them a path" position that Trump took only five and a half months ago.

“A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. — ‘Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.’ — Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Not a new conundrum at all.

And The Donald, he is a great soul indeed.

I consider Trump a wild card. He maybe the greatest president we have since Reagan or he could end up another that disappoint. I know I would be excited if he pick Cruz as his VP.

Rush had frequently said that the GOP fails to inform the public. Trump informs the public — that is his most powerful campaign tactic. He increases national awareness — this is an EDUCATIONAL campaign, not a gamesmanship campaign.

Lots of things that are verboten in that camp.

Here’s a story about a man thrown out of a Trump Rally for carrying a confederate flag in Mannassas VA of all places.

http://www.bizpacreview.com/2015/12/03/trump-backers-smell-a-rat-after-man-with-confederate-flag-is-thrown-out-of-rally-280610

the guy doesn’t appear to have been causing any trouble.

The south will rise again but only if the NY liberal allows it.

Some have lost their ability to think critically. You don’t typically see this in conservatism. Odd election cycle.

To those who support Trump, it doesn’t matter. To them it’s just another unjustified attack. To those who don’t support Trump, it’s just another reason to dislike/distrust him and continue to support someone else.

that’s brilliant...attack the messengers...you trumpeters are all one trick pony’s. Now how about you actually enlighten us all to anything Donald Trump has DONE in his whole bloviating life that shows he’s guided by a sincerely held conservative belief? Surely there must be one, right? I mean he’s the patron saint of all things conservative, right?

Y’all have become completely unhinged from reality.

I think Trump has no principles and just says what people want to hear. He will fix anything which is not conservative at all. The government is not the answer to all problems and I do not here him saying that.

A happy Friday morning to all!   Yesterday's close saw stock indexes snapping back under their 50-day moving averages but the good news is it was in lower volume.  On the third other hand this mornings futures see stock indexes at -1.75% and metals -2.80% (gold/silver now at $1,055.93/$13.83).

At least we're done w/ the major econ reports as everyone's still trying to figure out how we get Tuesday's CPI at zero and the next day the Fed decides to fight inflation by raising interest rates.

Trump is the Great Deal Maker. So if he becomes president just who will he be making deals with?

The republicans will be in his pocket. That leaves the democrats.

What he said yesterday is erased by what he ssys today.

There is that, but my next thought is what's he going to say tomorrow that erases today's stand?

That's the trouble with populists. They say what they need to say to get elected but once they are they no longer need to be popular and run with their first instincts.

I really want to support Trump but I just don't know if I can trust him.

Fortunately the election's still a year away and we'll have a lot more time to watch to see whether we get some consistancy or do things change w/ someone better taking over.

Clinton's big laugh line running against Perot in '92 was "Bush created lots of jobs, in Mexico!!!"

Sad part is, if we can’t trust Trump, and we can’t trust Cruz, then who *can* we trust? Carson and Rubio are right out.

Already did that you senile oaf, and you still didn't like it.

Y'all have become completely unhinged from reality.

Y'all need to look in the mirror and realize that you have become the handmaidens for the GOPe, Karl Rover, Mitt Romney, and 'RATS everywhere.

They hate Trump and so do you. Submit your invoice to Reince Preibus for 'services rendered'.

I read his book “Time to get Tough”. I think it was written in 2011 and he says in that book pretty much what he is saying now about many subjects, including immigration. He has been saying the same thing for a while now.
