After last night's Republican presidential-candidate debate in Las Vegas, Jeb Bush got some badly needed positive assessments of his performance, albeit mostly of the "he's not dead quite yet" variety. You have to figure that those cheering him on included not just his supporters and Establishment Republicans generally, but the small tribe of people who make their living buying and selling political TV ads. Unless his campaign really starts to cook, Team Bush is on a trajectory to become one of those historic profiles in futility that influence future behavior. And it could push the already crusty and embattled theory that you win elections by dominating TV airwaves with paid advertising right off the cliff.
The latest report from NBC's Mark Murray (based on data from the network's ad-monitoring partner SMG Delta) on ad spending by presidential candidates not only reinforces the general story of a disconnect between money out the door and invisible-primary poll standings; it specifically draws attention to the ongoing disaster of Bush super-pac Right to Rise's massive pro-Jeb advertising campaign in the early states.

Jeb B. sounded desperate and ridiculous during the debate like a sore loser.
There was a moment last night that made it clear Jeb is not fit to lead.
Trump was not attacking Jeb. Jeb started attacking Trump and Trump steam rolled over him about the polls and his position on the podium.
Jeb is politically tone deaf. He let Trump have an opening that wouldn’t have happened if Jeb had been smarter.
He thought he had this Presidency in the bag. He probably did..until Trump entered the scene and made a remark on immigration.
The rest will be history
Anybody old enough to remember when Nelson Rockefeller tried to buy votes with his family’s millions? He finally had to settle for an appointed post as Vice President and died of a heart attack while boinking his mistress in some Manhattan penthouse.
The problem is, Yeb, you are a Bush from the Bush dynasty. We don’t want you. Look at what your brother gave us. Good ol’ Obama and all his tyranny. The problem with your advertising is it reminds us all that your last name is still Bush.
He needs to wheel out that weird leprechaun-looking dude that follows him around.
Couldn’t be any worse.
Nothing kills a good marketing campaign faster than a crappy product.
Looks like they’re drinking over at the tables by the far wall! I guess if you are a Little Yebbie supporter, drinking helps get you past his debate “performances!” Oh well, at least he didn’t “jack himself up” on his tippie toes last night.
All the personality of his father and the brains of his brother
For once, I’m actually glad I live in Northeast Illinois. Haven’t seen a single Yeb! Booooosh ad.
Accurate assessment. Trump also destroyed the constraints of PC regulation as established by the media, leftists and rinos. Whatever happens, Trump served/serves the nation with his candidacy.
I will be so glad when Right to Rise is out of money. They are infecting both my TV and Radio with their rhetoric.
