On Tuesday, the Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District announced that all schools would be shut down today due to an unspecified terror threat. According to ABC News, that threat also carries âunknown credibility.â Bus drivers say they have been returned to their bus depots. LAUSD is the nationâs second-largest school district, with 640,000 students and 900 schools; children range from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Martha on Faux just said phone call threat again.
Martha and Bill are about the only people on Faux worth watching.
Bill has been really hammering the idiots who want to love and cuddle Isis killers since the Paris Slaughter.
Even if they find out there was no bomb or other credible threat, the terrorists won.
I can’t believe those AH’s in LA are not telling the people what the hell the threat is.
They had thousands of buses on the roads going to get the kids for school and they call them back??
That’s nuts.
FoxNews now reports that is was an email to a (smart)phone of a school board member that started the concern.
The first one about Jarrett sounds believable but according to Snopes it is false.
Ever see Die Hard 3?
This ping list is for the "other" articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Poor “immigrants” and “refugees” can’t help themselves; we must try to understand . . .
PING!
+1 but yeah yeah yeah how will it affect my commute - oh no I’ve turned into a L.A person help!
Maybe some of the parents who have to miss work and money will rethink their position about jihadists.
Maybe OMuslim will issue an executive odor order...

Officials said the threat came in electronic form and was made to numerous but unspecified campuses.
Yep. That immediately came to mind.
Is Ashton Lundeby out of jail yet?
You can’t discern between “concoct with half a brain” vs “actual impending bloodbath”?
Yes, this instance may be your scenario: terrorists win by concocting a sufficient yet [mostly] baseless threat. And yes, I’m generally inclined to “take the risk” and not freak out over vague baseless threats. HOWEVER, you also need be aware that viable/realistic/imminent threats can & do happen, and that leaving thousands in place for actual slaughter is reprehensible (at best).
Let’s withhold judgement & insults until we have some credible information about what happened. Yeah, probably just a “terrorists win without doing anything” overreaction, but considering San Bernardino having happened just up the street a couple weeks ago, and lots of other circumstantial weirdness going on (3 guys buy 100 anonymous cell phones at 3AM; explosives going missing; etc), let’s not quite dismiss it as nothing yet.
They’re talking about making cops conduct searches at 900 schools?
Good grief.
Brother and I have thought of something similar, but in case our friends at the NSA are watching (like they’re not - LOL), I keep mine offline.

The “credible threat” of violence involved backpacks and packages left at LAUSD campuses http://lat.ms/1m43EYH
Damn, they’re interviewing the administrators and kids and none of them seem educated.
