On Monday night’s radio program, Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin called out Donald Trump for mimicking the statists and the Republican establishment by attacking rival Ted Cruz and Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia over the weekend.
Listen:
Listen to the audio at the link.
Levin cited three “reckless comments” made by Donald Trump.
First, Mr. Trump joined in with a leftist on CNN to dump on Justice Scalia, who’s comments during oral argument have been unfairly accused of being racist. Conservatives know better.
Second, Levin said that Mr. Trump’s insinuation that Ted Cruz is bought and paid for by Texas oil companies because he opposes ethanol was “stupid.” Ethanol subsidies are a “typical, big-government, Stalinist program” and conservatives know better than to criticize a candidate who opposes government waste. Announcing your support for ethanol subsidies because you’re campaigning in Iowa is pandering.
Thirdly, Levin declared that Mr. Trump sided with the Republican establishment when he called Sen. Cruz a “maniac” for refusing to go along with the Washington establishment in the Senate. Isn’t Mr. Trump himself running an anti-establishment campaign? Why would he adopt Establishment talking points to attack another conservative?
Levin went on to say that running a populist campaign by abandoning conservative principles is nothing more than liberalism. If Mr. Trump is a conservative, he should not be attacking another conservative from the left.
To quote my dearly departed Grandmother... Thats why the world is the way it is today.
People get the government they deserve. If they want to play cult of personality games and ignore ‘inconvenient truths’, spoken by their candidate, then let the cards fall where they may. We cant save them from themselves.
Fallout here we come.
Levin has done more FOR the cause of liberty than most of us combined. Yea, he’z a lil hard to listen to sometimes, but the guy is smack dab in the middle of the fight for conservatism and constitutional principals.
I don't need to defend the guy, but left field comments such as this are just damaging the cause.
Zero is not like any previous president. It is unwise to give zero more power to “fundamentally change the nation”.
In the interest of fairness I must point out that eventually dictators became emperors so maybe it's a good thing we can't copy Rome. Maybe.
This is your quote.
“In the interest of fairness I must point out that eventually dictators became emperors so maybe it’s a good thing we can’t copy Rome. Maybe.”
This is after you wrote... “However the greatest republic of all time Rome, would, if need arised, appoint a dictator for a set period of time to deal with an threat that threaten its’ existence. Sadly the USA has no provision to copy Rome then its’ existence is similarly threatened. As it is now by globalist policies.”
Since I’m not a Trump supporter, I’m not very good at translating what people say into what they meant to say.
So your response should be... “Oh, I didn’t mean that, but I can see how you would think that. I’m sorry for calling you a liar and intellectually challenged.”
From Wiki
Paleoconservatism (sometimes shortened to paleocon) is a conservative political philosophy found primarily in the United States stressing tradition, limited government and civil society, along with religious, regional, national and Western identity.
Paleoconservatives in the 21st century often highlight their points of disagreement with neoconservatives, especially regarding issues such as military interventionism, illegal immigration and high rates of legal immigration, as well as multiculturalism, affirmative action, free trade, and foreign aid. They also criticize social welfare and social democracy, which some refer to as the "therapeutic managerial state", the "welfare-warfare state" or "polite totalitarianism". They identify themselves as the legitimate heirs to the American conservative tradition.
Well those labels might not applied to you, so forgive me, perhaps you made and honest mistake. I will take your word on it. :)
Oopps meant .... might not apply
That's about as twisty as anything Trump would say. Well done.
“You’re thankful to God for your ego. Check.”
CatherineofAragon is one of the least egotistical people I have ever seen on the internet, and is an unfailing, unflinching and indisputable pro-life warrior. She supports a different candidate than we do, but she is a Christian warrior of the first cut, and IMO is frankly better than -either- of these candidates.
This discord is being exaggerated and inflamed by mutual enemies - the Rove, Hillary, Priebus types out there. We shouldn’t be falling for it.
That is very kind and generous of you. Thank you, friend.
Thanks :)
LOL, she and I have bumped heads quite a few times here. But I have to agree. She is a top notch "Christian warrior". I have to be very careful when I engage with her, the slightest mistake and KABOOM.
Which is why a good friend of mine nicknamed me “Red”, and I consider it an honor. ;)
Jpsb, thank you. I appreciate it.
I don’t know why any of the candidates take the bait of answering questions about what another conservative said. Why don’t they say that they say that they rather give a response to what Obama or Hillary said and just rip them!
BTTT
I’m a Cruz supporter but by no means have bashed Trump, I could vote for either, but Levin and Rush are right about Trump on this one. Trump came across sounding like Little Jebbie, McWeasal or Fart Blossom Rove attacking Cruz from the left like establishment scum.
Cruz may have inadvertently started the tussle and Trump had the right to hit back, but he went about it in the wrong way, he sounded like a flaming lefty which is not something that will help him.
Yes she is “Christian” — I choose to be godly.
It isn’t that far. He endorsed single payer health care at the first debate this year.
