Rush Limbaugh today criticized Donald Trump for his attacks on Ted Cruz, but upon being informed the media thinks he turned on Cruz, Limbaugh insisted he did no such thing.
In case you missed it, after Trump called Cruz a "mania" yesterday who can't get anything done in Congress, Limbaugh today criticized him for echoing the establishment. He said, "Any of you who are holding out hope that Trump is a genuine conservative... a genuine conservative would not go after Cruz this way."
Well, during his show, Limbaugh founds out the media already picked up his criticism. He clarified, "I haven’t turned on anybody. I haven't thrown anybody away. I haven't announced support for anybody."
He insisted he was just disappointed and asking a question about Trump's attack on Cruz "because it sounded like the same kind of criticism we would get from the establishment Republicans."
Limbaugh did muse over whether Trump would turn on him next, but figured it wouldn't happen.
For what it's worth, Limbaugh wasn't nearly as restrained in his criticism as Mark Levin was later in the day.
That is exactly right -- they even used the same terminology about each other, and Trump was making an additional point directly to Cruz by responding using the exact same words almost, and I'm sure that Cruz got that message, but Limbaugh apparently did not.
Limbaugh and his staff either did not do a good enough job researching the whole story, or they were deliberately misleading their audience about it. In either case, it was a shabby, "half-fast" job of addressing that point, and was not up to Limbaugh's usual level of quality in his show.
Since both Cruz and Trump said essentially the same things, if Trump is "Donald McCain", then Cruz is "Teddy McCain", and Limbaugh is "Rush Stephanopoulos". As a long-time listener of Rush, I'm afraid it is becoming clear that he has been losing it more and more lately. In addition to his physical hearing disability, he has been having extraordinary trouble lately trying to grasp what callers are trying to say, and more and more often, he has to ask his staff to clarify what a caller is saying, even though it is quite clear to everyone else who is listening.
Rush is also getting very carried away with his "infomercials" for his Rush Revere books (fastracking calls from little kids and moms who liked his books, and dragging those calls out too long), as well as talk about "Two If By Tea", talk (and even his own personal "tech support" for sometimes) involving Apple products like watches, IPADS, IPODS, (etc.), and talk about golf, or football, or other off-the-track subjects. (I told them truthfully today in an email that whenever he goes off the track like that into one of those boring blah-blah-blah segments, I immediately change stations, or just turn the radio off.)
It is sad, but Rush is getting a bit "advanced in age", and I believe he is slowing down, and his mind is "meandering" a bit lately. (Still listening, though, except when he goes way off the track like that.)
That sounds about right. I like both so hate to see the infighting.

Levin did a better job of detailing that today.
The original concept of TPA is a good thing. Then the GOP leadership changed the deals. That’s when Cruz came out and told the Senate body he was lied to. It all goes on from there.
Cruz has been correct in all this. He has few friends in DC, the media hates him, both sides of the isle hate him, now Trump calls him a maniac.
Being a “Conservative” is to be informed and speak the truth.
The phrase is, "get a life".
I appreciate that, but Levin isn’t even handed either.
Some of his ploys are dishonest. When that starts happening, it causes me to lose respect for him.
Are you under the impression that Cruz has been able to form a coalition with Republicans to develop a Conservative power base in the Senate?
To my knowledge he hasn’t been able to. So this leads me to think he doesn’t exactly win praises for leadership there.
Folks can trash Trump if they like, but I don’t see any evidence of Cruz being a moving force in the Senate.
Yes, he stands up and makes good speeches. He votes fairly well most of the time. What “gangs” “coalitions” has he formed to get our programs passed?
Like the guy or not, he seems a loner there.
Isn’t it also to form coalitions and promote our ideals?
Leadership is about forming a consensus and a group around it to promote those ideals.
What coalition has Ted founded in the Senate?
Those are fair observations. Trump has leadership ability. And you can’t be successful at running a large firm like his if you don’t know how to vet people and assemble a highly competent staff. Cruz is highly intelligent but the leadership skills aren’t as visible as with Trump.

That’s a charged question but good grief.
If Cruz was duped on TPA that’s even worse—but I’m not buying that.
Trumps views on H1B visa’s are similar to Cruz’s:

If you do not understand the difference between PhD graduates from American universities and H1-B visa computer programmers from foreign countries, I would suggest you refrain from posting and expose your lack of understanding of the real problem.
Almost all H1-B visa cheap foreign workers are mainly computer programmers. That does not require a PhD degree or even a master’s degree. Those foreign workers displace American citizen programmers by accepting wage levels 40% below American wages. There is NO shortage of American computer programmers.
On the other hand, there is a critical shortage of highly educated scientists and engineers with advanced degrees in United States. Those are the type of people we need, not computer programmers.
Well, here is what Cruz proposed back in 2013 regarding the H1B visas, partly to fill shortages in highly skilled labor. He also wanted to increase their pay, probably as a dis-incentive to just hire cheap foreign workers.:
