Are you under the impression that Cruz has been able to form a coalition with Republicans to develop a Conservative power base in the Senate?

To my knowledge he hasn’t been able to. So this leads me to think he doesn’t exactly win praises for leadership there.

Folks can trash Trump if they like, but I don’t see any evidence of Cruz being a moving force in the Senate.

Yes, he stands up and makes good speeches. He votes fairly well most of the time. What “gangs” “coalitions” has he formed to get our programs passed?

Like the guy or not, he seems a loner there.

Those are fair observations. Trump has leadership ability. And you can’t be successful at running a large firm like his if you don’t know how to vet people and assemble a highly competent staff. Cruz is highly intelligent but the leadership skills aren’t as visible as with Trump.
