Tom Ridge: 'I Can't Vote for Donald Trump'
Newsmax ^ | December 11,2015 | Todd Beamon

Posted on 12/12/2015 9:08:39 AM PST by Hojczyk

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge said Friday that he would not support Donald Trump as Republican presidential nominee — and that "a real possibility" existed that he might not vote at all in next year's election if that is the case.

"I think he is an embarrassment to the party," Ridge, who became the nation's first secretary of Homeland Security under President George W. Bush in 2003, told Neil Cavuto on Fox News. "If he is the man who has the votes, then that's the way it will be."

But when asked whether he would support the billionaire developer, Ridge said: "No. I can't vote for Donald Trump."

For Democrat Hillary Clinton?

"No," he replied. "I couldn't do that either. I know I can't support Donald for a variety of reasons."

"What does Tom Ridge do?" Cavuto asked. "Don't vote at all?"

"A real possibility," the former governor said. "It would be tough for me … , but I don't think Donald Trump will get the nod."

Trump hit back sharply on Twitter:

Donald J. Trump Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump Follow Tom Ridge should be focused on trying to bring the party together rather than ripping it apart w/ your faulty thought process. I will win! 1:37 PM - 11 Dec 2015

Donald J. Trump Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump Follow Tom Ridge is a failed 'Bushy' & PA Governor. Him & his friend @KarlRove shouldn't be allowed to do their bias commentary- nobody listens! 1:49 PM - 11 Dec 2015

Yeah. Ashcroft.

The GROPe RINO who didn’t have the nerve, guts, and determination to fight off and defeat a dead democrat candidate.

So Bush lost a Senate seat he needed a few months later.

If THE PEOPLE who vote in the various Republican primaries and caucuses give the majority or polarity of their votes to Donald Trump, who the F is Tom Ridge to defy them???!!!!??

I’m not saying Trump will win, but if he does EVERY Republican politicians better DAMN WELL support him. Right now, Trump has a commanding lead over the other contenders. The die is not cast, nor does that say it won’t change, but this kind of talk is detrimental—political poison, should Trump win—to the speaker making it.

And besides, what a bunch of traitors to the rank and file.

If in the end they won’t support OUR choice, why the HELL should we support them or theirs???

Not going to turn the progressive wing of GOP into responsible citizens over night.

The left has it right, they indoctrinate kids who don’t know better through the school system.

When the left refers to the uneducated, they mean the unindoctrinated.

Tom who?

That'd be Tom "Sure, I can get the good people of Pennsylvania to pony up a few dollars for new sports stadia!" Ridge

Donald Trump sucks, but I'll hold my nose if he's the nominee. Just as Romney sucked less and McCain somehow sucked less than Obama, Trump sucks less than Hillary, Bernie, or even O'Malley.

I'll worry about that if it happens. I don't think Trump gets the nomination. I think it's going to be Rubio, although I'm voting for Cruz.

This is disheartening......Is there even one person that served in the Bush administration who is a patriotic American? /s

All I know is that anyone who has deep ties to the Bush family usually turns out to have a penchant for talking patriotic but walking globalist.

It certainly seems like a rogues gallery of GOPe types have gotten marching orders from their Saudi benefactors since DT made a rather mild proposal that flew in the face of the last fourteen years of cringe-worthy beltway Islamic apologetics. To paraphrase, "Want to know who rules those who govern you? Look who you aren't allowed to criticize."

I’m trying to remember the last time an elected Democrat (current or former) announced that they could/would not support their party’s nominee.

Obama’s not the only pu$$y on the national stage—The GOP is full of them.

The GOP is always telling us that Donald Trump can’t beat Hillary Clinton, now I know why, because the GOP won’t vote for him.

has had to side with both Democrats and Republicans to push his businesses forward.
It has nothing to do with siding with anyone.

Business is business and has nothing to do with siding. That's why he's successful.

"Him & his friend @KarlRove shouldn't be allowed to do their bias commentary- nobody listens! 1:49 PM - 11 Dec 2015"

The above is the important part of Trump's tweet. He has the problem of thinking he can stop free speech of someone he does not like, which means anyone who has a different opinion than he does.

"The GOP is always telling us that Donald Trump can't beat Hillary Clinton, now I know why, because the GOP won't vote for him."

If you mean just the establishment in Washington, you are incorrect. There will be many individual conservatives who will not vote for him. They will do like Ridge and leave that space blank.

And with his proud and courageous stand for America, Trump won't need any of these globalists because he will still get many other conservatives AND many other independents and democrats to put him over the top.

I have been saying that for a long time. It is what I have told the GOP and candidates for a few years when I get money requests.
