Here’s Why Donald Trump’s December Poll Numbers Matter [December leader usually wins]
Time ^ | Dec 4 2015 | Time

Here’s some good news for Donald Trump fans: History is now on his side.

For months, members of the Republican Establishment have dismissed Trump’s chances at snagging the party’s presidential nomination. But he’s still ahead in the December polls, a signal that has boded well for GOP candidates in the past.

In fact, according to a 1999 Gallup poll analysis, in almost every election since 1952, the leader in the Republican polls in the fall ended up being the party’s nominee.

Cruz has less than 1/10 of Trump’s crowd sizes.
And Cruz can not resonate anywhere near Trump with people.

The difference is, Trump has been a world class salesman all his working life. Cruz never had a private sector job, he is just a politician, talks great, delivers nothing.

Can any one name one significant achievement by Cruz in US Senate?

Ok, here is my answer on the specifics thing:

Trump has plenty of specifics on each policy on his website.

He doesn't TALK about a lot of these on the campaign trail because a) it goes in one ear and out the other, and b) people don't CARE if you get the economy going with a tax cut on the rich, a "fair tax," or whatever---just do it. (Here, let me remind you if the, yes, very good, Clinton economy: people didn't care that it was largely due to Reagan's tax policies, low energy prices due to Bush's Iraq war, and the Reagan-Bush victory in the Col War opening up all of Russia and Eastern Europe to trade. All people cared about was that he kept the ball rolling.)

The more important point is that people know Trump as a SUCCESSFUL winning businessman. They don't care what happens in the back room as long as the US comes out a winner.

When I think of the "specifics" of most stuff it's 90% leadership and direction, and 10% having the worker bees draft basic plans.

For ex., do you know what our strategy was at Montreal in 1941 to win WW II? Win. There was no talk of #s of divisions needed, where we would attack, etc. All FDR and Churchill concluded was "beat Germany first." So when I hear Christie babble about "adding two new carrier groups" or any tax plan that doesn't repatriate the $2 trillion in sheltered assets, then it's meaningless what some specifics are.

However, ultimately it all---and always---comes down to trust. Do you trust Cruz? Do you trust that he wants to AND CAN do what he says? I believe the former but not the latter. His record, for whatever good reasons, is not of success. He is isolated with no big "wins" in the senate. Who does he draw at rallies? Hundreds, when Trump draws tens of thousands?

As I have said before, while Cruz is a "rebel," he is still enough of an insider that I think he would be boxed in and contained. I believe (there is that faith thing) that Trump is truly independent of money, lobbyists, and most of all the DC. But ultimately you can't argue faith.

Molly, I wouldn’t be surprised, if Trump and/or Cruz get the nomination, to see the GOPe and RATS combine forces to run a Clinton/Bush ticket.

JEB! really neds a strong woman to lead him by the nose.

The GOPe has now begun their last ditch plan to stop Trump. They are beginning to boost Cruz in order to split the primary vote between them.

The plan will likely fail because the GOPe has nobody else who can win even if Trump and Cruz vote split.

‘’Absent an alien abduction Trump is the GOP nominee.’’

And absent an assassination by a Clinton-Bush hit man.

I so totally agree. Politicians basically beg for money and destroy wealth no matter how sincere they are. They go into running anything by begging for money and destroying wealth.

Trump has created wealth in one of the toughest businesses in the world at a level that is the toughest.

He always things in terms of cost. He has a monster track record and he knows how to sell, sell, sell.

There is a well known saying about sales. Nothing gets done until something is sold. Americans are sold on Trump.

Why do you and so many others think business is not often a “Dirty, Brutal, Game?” To think that Trump is unprepared for the Washington scene because he is not a “politician” is exposing a total ignorance of the business world.....particularly the world of Construction and Development which is Trump’s specialty. I will tell you from first hand experience that it can be not only dirty, but a BLOODY Brutal “game.” It involves politics in ways you could not even imagine and there is ONE GREAT DIFFERENCE with Washington Politics that EVERYONE SHOULD THINK ABOUT. In business, Trump is playing with HIS OWN MONEY, in Washington Politics the politicians are playing with OUR MONEY. Trump is a winner! He has built a fortune and been able to keep it and make it grow. WE DESPERATELY NEED a President who knows and understands how to bring America back to a solid economic base with jobs for Americans first and foremost. We have been stripped of our wealth by the do-gooders who send our jobs to the rest of the world by their STUPID rules and regulations governing business to the point that businesses , in order to survive, have to go somewhere else but America. You Don’t think Trump is capable of bringing back our former economic strength? Just watch him. The American people know what a rarity Trump is and are going to elect him, whether you and the doubting Thomases and the dirty politicians like it or not. America is the BIGGEST BUSINESS in the world! It is long past time we realize we need a BUSINESSMAN to run it.

We will save ourselves first if we elect a successful businessman and not a politician. A businessman understands how to use a dollar and how to protect it and make it grow because he is spending his own money. Politicians play with OUR MONEY and spend it without a qualm as to impoverishing the American people. Donald Trump is the ONLY choice to turn this country around.

[[He doesn’t TALK about a lot of these on the campaign trail because a) it goes in one ear and out the other,]]

To the early folsk yes- to those who hold off- who are waiting for specifics- he’ll need to start getting more specific if he wants hteir vote=-

I think though he’s holding off on giving specifics simply because He doesn’t want the opposition stealing his ideas so early In the campaign- which is smart-

[[They don’t care what happens in the back room as long as the US comes out a winner.]]

True, and that’s a good point- all this ‘transparency’ crap is just that- crap- People, especially mothers, want their families safe- and don’t much care how it’s accomplished (within reason of course)

[[Clinton economy: people didn’t care that it was largely due to Reagan’s tax policies, low energy prices due to Bush’s Iraq war, and the Reagan-Bush victory in the Col War opening up all of Russia and Eastern Europe to trade. All people cared about was that he kept the ball rolling]]

That is true- it’s like eating sausage, people love it but don’t want to know what went into it-

[[Do you trust Cruz? Do you trust that he wants to AND CAN do what he says?]]

I don’t know enough about either candidate- I do think Cruz has more experience dealing with slime than trump does- and I do know Cruz has consistently tried to take a stand- at the expense of his career even (He’s ostracized by the rinos now), and that is an admirable quality for any candidate- He has been successful with bills that no one else would put forth protecting citizens- etc- He gives a run down of his accomplishments in a fox interview- it’s worth a listen because he brings out things he’s done that the public are unaware of

[[As I have said before, while Cruz is a “rebel,” he is still enough of an insider that I think he would be boxed in and contained.]]

Possibly- or he may be able to get things done- again- listen to his interview- He got things done when no one else was willing to even try-

I’m not suggesting turning to cruz- I do thinjk probably Trump will be nominee- and I’m ok with that too- just saying that cruz actually has accomplished more than the media has given him credit for, and he’s at least been willing to put forth the unpopular but necessary bills that no one else will touch- -

[[In business, Trump is playing with HIS OWN MONEY, in Washington Politics the politicians are playing with OUR MONEY.]]

Good point molly-

however, another counter- point is that in business it’s not as national as is being president- it’s a whole different ballgame

[[WE DESPERATELY NEED a President who knows and understands how to bring America back to a solid economic base with jobs for Americans first and foremost.]]

Absolutely we do- The ‘me me me, I I I community organizer’ we’ve had for the last 7 years has completely ruined most everything this nation has strived for-

[[You Don’t think Trump is capable of bringing back our former economic strength? ]]

I never said that

[[whether you and the doubting Thomases and the dirty politicians like it or not.]]

Calm down Molly- I appreciate your passion for trump- but I assure you that I never said I doubted, nor that I wished he wouldn’t become president- go back and read my first response carefully, and then my subsequent posts- you’ll see I Clearly never said any such thing-

[[Trump is playing with HIS OWN MONEY,]]

And that is an excellent point by the way- I meant ot go back and expand on it- but posted too soon-

This country very definitely NEEDS someone who will take our money and HONOR us by investing it wisely ,and not throw it away on terrorist nations, on ilelgals, on pet projects for special interest groups etc- someone who KNOWS the value of money, and KNOWS how hard we the people work for it-

And Trump is VERY unique when it comes to the value of money, AND the respect for those who make it-

Again- plase note I never stated I hoped he would fail, nor that I dobut he can make it- I simply was stating that there could be avenues that might hurt him when the boxing gloves come off towards election time IF he doesn’t prepare answers for them now- I laid out several avenues that could hurt his chances, and also laid out avenues that are helping him- it was simply an objective look at the situation and not an endorsement or opposition to his candidacy-

they may usually win, but he is not a usual candidate - he could very well unravel big time and more solidly 'political' candidates could take the lead -

If you’ll read through all my posts I n this thread instead of knee jerk reacting- you’ll see why it could happen- I’m NOT saying it will- It has happened to many early front runners before- and there are reasons why it has as I’ve explained in my posts- Again- I am Not stating it will with trump- you would have known that had you bothered to read my follow up posts-
