Obama Says a New Tax Is 'The Most Elegant Way' to Stop Climate Change

(CNSNews.com) - At news conference in Paris on Tuesday, President Obama said "the most elegant way" to reduce carbon emissions is "to put a price on it."

He was responding to a reporter who asked Obama, "I wonder if you see any political path back home toward putting a price on carbon?"

"I have long believed that the most elegant way to drive innovation and to reduce carbon emissions is to put a price on it. This is a classic market failure," Obama replied.

"If you open up an Econ 101 textbook, it will say the market's very good about determining prices and allocating capital towards its most productive use, except there's certain externalities, there's certain things that the market just doesn't count, it doesn't price, at least not on its own. Clean air is an example; clean water -- or the converse, dirty water, dirty air.

Ah, yes, money for politicians to spend makes EVERYTHING better!

I like this definition of TAX = Theft of Income. Think about it, that's what it is. Didn't have it in 1910.

Do we really even need a government?

Well, I at least wonder why why need Congress. Because if Obama really wants some sort of climate change tax, he'll just call it a regulation and then implement it.

A few folks in Congress will get upset for a few minutes. Then everyone will break for drinks at the club.

look for, an executive order and then the supreme court will declare he can do it because it;’s NOT a tax.

A new tax

A lying narcissistic socialist/democrat/statist uses junk science to propose a NEW TAX. what a surprise.

No statist ever met a tax he didn't like. No statists ever shrank from a lie to justify a new tax. No socialist ever presented the negative effects of a tax increase a regulatory burden increase.

To statists, the citizens exist only to serve the state (meaning them).

I really don’t see why we should continue to pay these people to destroy our country.

I think their jobs should be eliminated. All of ‘em.

IIRC, Australia’s socialist leader installed a carbon tax a few years ago and was promptly and soundly ousted in the next election, and the tax repealed.

Back in 1996 Bob Dole ran for president. His campaign was dull and uninspiring. But Dole had one interesting thing in his platform: An emphasis on the importance of the 10th Amendment.

Hopefully a President Trump or Cruz will take a look in that direction. Many of our problems today arise from the fact that DC issues directives to the states that DC has no right issuing. DC now even directs what a school in Idaho can serve for lunch. Crazy!

States are now treated like provinces of some empire. That's got to change.

This clown has to be a multi-billionaire by now, thanks to his intentionally reckless throwing of trillions to the four winds. More taxes would only serve to make him richer, and, to quote him,” At some point you have enough money.”
