A pediatric emergency medicine physician is urging doctors to join the effort for gun control by asking about gun ownership while performing health histories on their patients.
A panel titled âThe Tipping Point: Activating a Public Health Movement to Address Gun Violenceâ was featured at the American Public Health Association (APHA)âs 2015 annual meeting in Chicago earlier in November. The panel called for a view of gun violence as a public health emergency situation.

My doctor has not reached the gun question yet but he does pause and ask if there are any “problems” at our house.
If I were to say yes to this, I suspect the next question would be whether there were guns.
I am prepared to tell him that there are no firearms, since this is the answer I would give to anyone who has no reason to know the answer to this question.
Never forget that all doctors have a license to PRACTICE.
Ref: Hitler’s Germany in the 1930’s.
“None of their FKN business.”
Congratulations, you are now registered as a radical gun
owner in the federal gun registry.
The correct answer is “None of your Damn Business. Goodbye”.
The article states that the chief hoplophobe quotes data from the Brady Center to Support Gun Confiscation or some such totally unbiased group. Then he lies that states with restrictive gun laws have lower rate of gun violence when we all know that the opposite is true.
My patients and I discuss firearms all the time because we all own and enjoy shooting them. I never enter anything about that into their records.
I will not fill out personal questions that do NOT pertain to my health...i.e GUNS, or personal info that is NOT related to my health. 0'care DATA MINING! sucks.
I have never had a doctor ask me anything about guns.
Except at some point, they will either make lying to your doctor a felony (falsifying medical records), or use it to establish a baseline of mental incapacity (i.e., he owns guns but doesn't acknowledge it = denial of reality). Either of which will bar you from gun ownership under the uber-state.
just not turkey dinner, please :)
In their notes they never say they patient never had VD. They say the patient denies having had VD.
Or simply say it is none of your business.
I hate lying but the time may be at hand that it could be the most prudent course of action for self preservation IMO.
“Never forget that all doctors have a license to PRACTICE.”
If you want to practice any trade that is regulated by the
government you will become a government stoolie.
The same will go for gun owners eventually. You want to:
see a doctor, have a bank account, drive a car, own
a house, rent a house, fly on a plane and just about anything
the government regulates, you will have to turn in your guns.
Or
What does that question have to do with my health?
Or
Are you a doctor or an activist?
I shoot skeet with my doc!
Turn it back on them and ask if they do? When they start to say it’s none of your business, just smile. I have done that and yes the doctor did begin to say it was not my business but stopped uncomfortably mid sentence.
ER tips to make life bearable.
1) do not sign anything.
2) do not allow “medical professionals” to take your clothing and/or shoes.
3) answer no questions that are not directly related to the medical emergency you are facing.
“Iâd just tell them that I donât own any guns and let it go at that. Everybody is happy. They asked the question and I answered it.”
Yeah, you just have to bite your tongue and play their game, because any other answer is most likely to get you on somebody’s list. But at the same time you gain information about your “care provider” and they don’t know that you’ve “logged” their behavior for future reference.
thank you for that pic....added to my collection I’m getting for a scrape book of Trump...I can just see him saying this...lol...
I disagree. Play along and innocently tell them no and there will be no more questions on the issue.
However, if you get defiant, belligerent, and sarcastic, it will be duly noted that you have something to hide.
When the time comes, it’ll be the uncooperatives who get their homes searched.
Lie to them. Lie convincingly as if you agree with them. This is how Jewish sympathizers survived in Nazi occupied territory.
