“We don’t know ... what those motives were, but whatever they were, it’s unacceptable, and it’s horrific and wrong,” the Republican presidential hopeful told reporters here before a town hall.
Cruz is among the first — if not the first — GOP candidate to denounce the shooting, which happened Friday in Colorado Springs and left a police officer and two civilians dead. A suspect, Robert Dear, has been taken into custody.
"I have spent much of my adult life working in law enforcement, working against murderers and those who commit violent crime, and that one officer lost his life is particularly tragic," Cruz said.
Cruz appeared to be the first GOP candidate to directly address the shooting Saturday morning, when he tweeted that he was "Praying for the loved ones of those killed, those injured & first responders who bravely got the situation under control in Colorado Springs."
Cruz has been perhaps the harshest critic of Planned Parenthood in the GOP field, especially after the release of undercover videos showing officials with the group discussing business practices. Cruz has referred to the organization as an "ongoing criminal enterprise," and he regularly promises to initiate a federal investigation into the group as one of his first acts in office if elected president.
Disclosure: Planned Parenthood was a corporate sponsor of The Texas Tribune in 2011. A complete list of Tribune donors and sponsors can be viewed here.
Notice when the Left makes a press statement, they always defend their position or advance it.
Our guy goes out before he has the facts and addresses the deaths at the PP without mentioning the bank was the primary target.
He feeds the beast.
They never do it. We always do it.
It’s my understanding the perp did hit a bank first.
I agree with your comments.
You could approach it from that angle too.
In which instance you simply state you have no comment at this time.
.
There is no difference to an intelligent observer.
The man and his actions are of exactly the same order.
Cruz’ statement was more meaningful in that he pointed out that it doesn’t matter what his motives were.
Culture war much?
We don’t need your manipulative parsing BS.
.
Don't get so agitated with me over that CBS commander in chief preference graph. I was pointing out the poll was ONLY about their choice for commander in chief. I have seen it on here before and believe it to be fairly accurate. That same poll showed a preference for Trump much higher than Cruz on the economy and I believe that to be fairy accurate, too.
I just went back to the latest straw poll of Freepers preference for president in November. Here are the results of our Freeper straw poll (my counting of preferences could have a error rate of one or two either way as some Freepers posted again after stating their preference). I tried to only count an actual preference as I could deduce it.
Freepers for Cruz: 69
Freepers for Trump: 49
Graham 1
Brown 1
I recall the Freeper poll before the November one was also higher for Cruz but I don't have those numbers unless I do more searching for that one. Those Freeper polls are who do you want in general, not broken down into voting for separate qualities you want in each one. Therefore, it appears more Freepers are for Cruz than Trump.
I have no idea at this time who will be the final candidate. I do think Cruz may win the Iowa Caucus.
About this killing in Colorado: There is still no word from the cops who the two killed besides the cop, are. I am now thinking these two may have been killed by cops bullets instead of the bad guy and that is why they are delaying info. about those killed.
One black woman who was in the clinic, cannot find her boyfriend and he was outside the clinic when this started. She called all the hospitals and he wasn't there. Is he one of the dead and the cops are keeping that quiet for now? Did cops bullets kill him? Where is the other one killed? Why have we not heard the names of both killed and where are their bodies?
You don't have a clue. Planned Parenthood was Dear's target all along. Dear has apparently confirmed that fact in his statements to police.
There was a report that officers exchanged fire with Dear from a position outside Chase Bank, a distance of a little over 700 feet, and that one officer was hit and was transported to safety by colleagues.
If Dear had tried to rob the bank, holing up at PP would have been a very poor getaway plan.
Thank you.
I think you desperately need to get a life.
Let. It. Go.
As you say. It's insipid nonsense.
That pretty much sums up your posts in general.
Cool. We're summing up posts.
Your's are classless, paranoid, stupid and manic.
.
Still projecting, huh!
.
Marcella, the problem for me is that poll is hawked here incessantly by an individual who hawks another chart that clearly misconstrues Trump’s stance on issues 180 degree.
This CBS poll is another he is hawking. Trump is trouncing people in every state but Iowa, and I think that one is heavily gamed by several polling firms.
Look at the numbers in the CBS poll, and tell me they make sense when Trump is ahead in every single state, most by double digits.
This is nothing but propaganda. It was the same thing with all those polls showing Trump couldn’t beat Hillary. That’s nonsense too.
“Still projecting, huh!”
You evidently hold the record on this site for being an obnoxious piece of shit.
Insipid nonsense.
You have no idea if Cruz was asked about the motive or if he specifically "went out" to address the issue. Yet you claim that he specially went out to address the issue.
The guy is on the campaign trail making public appearances with the press. Not to hard to understand that they will ask him about the motive.
And he said that he didn't know the motive which means that he didn't know if it was the PP scenario or the bank robbery scenario.
Yet you have a problem with that.
And your responses when somebody questions you are classless.
Well evidently I did have a clue because you are addressing injuries at the bank. Duh.
Do you think every robber thinks far enough along to have a get-away plan? I doubt it.
Whether he focused on the bank or the PP center, our goal is to eliminate the thought he was there on a Conservative mission.
Did Cruz address that? No. He didn’t have enough information. Duh.
Being the first to comment is not always the wisest idea.
Being wise enough to get the information, then shoot down the idea this was a Conservative on a mission while you address the shooting is.
And you candidate is still an idiot for screwing up this opportunity.

Get back to me after you have read these enough times to understand them.
Read your simple comments long ago as did others. Nobody is impressed with them...but apparently you are.
LOL.
Bttt
Well other did read then and they did agree with my comments.
Others will get to this point in the tread, read what you just stated and know what a dingbat you are.
