Obama Administration Threatens States to Admit Syrian Refugees or Face ‘Enforcement Action’

The Obama administration has warned states to comply with federal efforts to resettle Syrian refugees in communities around the U.S. or else find their states subject to enforcement action.

In a letter this week, the Office of Refugee Resettlement threatens states concerned about resettling Syrians with punitive responses if they refuse to accept the refugees. ORR explains that states may not refuse ORR-funded benefits for refugees on the basis of religion and national origin.

“Accordingly, states may not categorically deny ORR-funded benefits and services to Syrian refugees,” ORR Director Robert Carey wrote in the letter. “Any state with such a policy would not be in compliance with the State Plan requirements, applicable statutes, and their own assurances, and could be subject to enforcement action, including suspension and termination.”

“until they undergo the highest security checks of anyone traveling to the United States.”

Pardon me, but that sounds neither practical no realistic.

I think it’s a bunch of leftist “feel good” speak designed to fool us into believing the security checks have real value.

And BTW, the ONLY question you have to ask youself, Mr. Obama, about any federal act or omission is, "IS IT CONSTITUTIONAL?"

"WELL IS IT PUNK???"

Two more words: National Guard.

It won’t matter in Missouri however since Asshat, politically finished & not soon enough be ex-Gov, Jay Nixon is completely Il Douchebag’e lapdog as was so vividly displayed when He didn’t deploy pre-staged Missouri National Guard forces to intervene against the looters, arsonists and paid domestic terrorists in Ferguson following the Mike Brown events. No one will EVER convince me that Obozo/Holder didn’t tell Nixon to let it play out. These people are evil vermin.

“A constitutional convention needs to take domestic power out of Washington DC! Let the federal government concentrate on providing for a common defense and a currency.”

Yes! X 1,000” The Federal Govt should not have the power to do this to the States!

Just how does the federal government suspend or terminate a state?

We all knew what would happen if he got a second term as a lame duck. Actually, we only knew the tip of the iceberg. It is far worse.

0bama is trying to cast this as a civil rights case with his opponents in the role of Bull Conner. He departs further and further from reality with every Islamic terrorist act and not even the activist media are going to be able to sell that one.

I have a hard time telling whether the socialist thugs he's turned loose on the country in such forms as Occupy and Black Lives Matter are steps in his attempt to portray himself as the civil rights president or payment due to them for their support these last eight years. A little of both, probably. This insistence on bringing in people known to be utilized to infiltrate terrorists is very much in that same vein. The damage they may cause doesn't matter to him because the people they will inflict it on don't matter to him. That would be us.

Call the bluff. Let's get this party started. No, not the Short But Glorious Civil War that the internet tough guys want either.

The power of federal law enforcement is mostly based on the idea that almost all of the people will not resist. The guy with the "How can a handgun stop an army" post is right.

That 'handgun' guy is our very own 2ndDivisionVet, and he is one FReeper who knows what he's talking about.

Let the SOB try.

Federal Law Enforcement will not fire on State or local police, as they will die in a hail of gunfire. If not from police, then armed citizens.

The DEA-DOJ Drug Threat Assessment 2015 has recently been released. Philadelphia’s outgoing Mayor Nutter’s back pedaling from his 2014 declaration that Philadelphia will be known as a sanctuary city preceded the release by about a week and is likely explained on PAGE TWO of the yearly report.

The incoming democrat mayor has been reported saying he will reinstate it if Nutter rescinds it.

From http://www.dea.gov/docs/2015%20NDTA%20Report.pdf

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Mexican TCOs are showing increasing interest in establishing distribution hubs in northeastern US cities such as Philadelphia.

Intelligence indicates these TCOs may wish to bypass traditional hubs in the southeastern United States due to law enforcement pressure.

Play their game. Deny the benefits, go to court. By the time the decision comes he’ll be out of office.

I agree. Let Hillary enforce it.

Just curious but didn’t the Supreme Court rule with Obamacare States aren’t responsible for unfunded govt mandates?

Fed govt isn’t allowed to dump their responsibility on the states.
