U.S. marshals and New Orleans SWAT team members on Monday arrested the suspect in the shooting of a Tulane University medical student who has been hailed as a good Samaritan for trying to stop an abduction. Police said the man quickly confessed to the crime. --
Police said video surveillance showed Cain dragging a woman to his SUV about 4 a.m. Friday near Magazine and St. Mary streets. Police have not said what they believe Cain intended to do to the woman. But at just that moment, police said, Gold drove up and tried to intervene in the situation.
Cain turned his gun on Gold and demanded money from him, police said. When the student said he did not have any on him, Cain became enraged and shot him once in the stomach, police said. Cain tried to shoot him twice in the head, but the gun jammed, police said.
--- Cain has a history of arrests. He pleaded guilty in July 2012 to illegal carrying of a weapon and in May 2014 to stealing a motor vehicle.

His most recent brush with the law came earlier this month. A carjacking victim told police Nov. 2 that he had tracked his stolen cellphone to the corner of Second and Freret streets. When he went to the intersection, he told police, he saw Cain holding his phone and then getting into a Toyota Camry with another man.
Cain and a passenger in his car, Anthony Herbert, were both booked on possession of stolen property in the amount of $900. He pleaded guilty the next day to a lesser count of illegal possession of stolen things under $300 and was quickly released.
Cain and his kind are why "Black Lives Matter" falls on deaf ears and hardened hearts.

I sure hope he spends the rest of his life in jail...I watched the video, where the thug is literally picking up a woman and hauling her down the street to his car while she kicks and screams. The medical student, fortunately, noticed this from the corner and he back up and turned down the street to help her. Thank God the slime didn’t succeed in killing him.

I don’t have an update, but my niece sent me an email about the incident. Her son went to middle school and high school with Peter Gold. She said that Peter will recover from his stomach wound. She asked for prayers for Peter, who is apparently a really nice guy.
Terrible incident. A good Samaritan deed ends ip with a bullet in the abdomen.

That young lady was as good as dead. He did a good thing.
Further, he had just received notice that he was accepted into Harvard Medical school without the necessity of a Pre-Med major.

He will NOT spend his life in jail. Probably about five years. Then he will be released possessing enormous street “cred.”
Sigh. Wish Gold would have been armed and just shot this feral animal.
One valuable person whose life did matter dead, one person’s life (the woman’s) probably saved, and one feral animal we have to pay to house and feed until the end of his miserable life.
Sigh again.
If they can give him a speedy trial, there’s still time for a presidential pardon.
I would like to see a study of how many serious crimes are committed in the US by recent offenders like this. The public needs to wake up and demand that criminals be taken out of circulation.
