NBC News ^ | NOV 20 2015

In the Republican primary race, the newest NBC News/SurveyMonkey online poll shows Donald Trump has the frontrunner spot to himself, with 28% support among Republican and independent voters who lean Republican. Support for Ben Carson, who was tied with Trump in last month's online poll, has fallen off by 8 points and the former neurosurgeon is now tied with Ted Cruz at 18%. Trailing not too far behind is Marco Rubio, at 11%. The next tier of candidates has a lot of catching up to do, with Jeb Bush at 4% and Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina each with 3%.

Yep Cruz is a real conservative, not a Washington D.C. type or a RINO acting conservative. Quit complaining, get active with the grassroots, and attend one of his rallies and you will see what a fine young leader he is and how dedicated he is to the conservative cause. If you don’t know enough about him ask any grassroots conservative and he will tell you Cruz is the real deal. He is a great leader. an intelligent debater, and has a lot more experience and a track record that most people don’t know about. As people learn more about him he will emerge as the candidate most likely to challenge Trump if he chooses.

I like Trump, but I’m sticking with Cruz for now.

And as Carson continues his slide Cruz is going to benefit from his support. It’s kind of hard to get a candidate’s base support when you compare their behavior to a child molester or call their supporters morons and idiots like Trump has.

Correction: Trump didn’t call Carson supporters child molesters, but he did compare Ben Carson to one.

The more people learn about Cruz the more they LIKE him.
Yep, events may unfold much as they did in the Texas GOP primary race for the U.S. Senate in 2012. Cruz started at 2% in the polls against a very powerfully connected Lt. Governor Dewhurst. Cruz gained steadily in the polls as voters learned more about him, but everybody said Dewhurst was the "inevitable winner." The entire GOPe was supporting Dewhurst. One PPP poll showed Dewhurst over Cruz by +17 only one week before the primary election in May, 2012 but Cruz survived and forced a runoff election. Cruz crushed Dewhurst in the runoff by 14 points.

34% "unfavorable" makes me wonder who they're polling and what was the wording of the question.

It is 61% unfavorable. 34% favorable.

From the linked poll results:

Bloomberg Politics Poll conducted by Selzer & Company. Nov. 15-17, 2015. N=1,002 adults nationwide. Margin of error +/- 3.1.

"Now, I'm going to mention some people and groups in the news recently. For each, please tell me if your feelings are very favorable, mostly favorable, mostly unfavorable, or very unfavorable. If you don't know enough to answer, just say so. ... Donald Trump, a businessman from New York."

If he gets > 5% in the Iowa caucus I will be surprised.

"Cruz at 18% and second place. The media can no longer ignore him. This will have a snowball effect. Cruz and Trump duking it out for #1? This will be something to see."

It'll be great, LOL.

That’s nice, but a couple of months ago Cruz said that there’s no alliance between him and Trump. Cruz is in it to win.

Still the fantasy persists, though.

No, you don’t understand. Trump only did that because he has certain financial interests and it helped him somehow in that area. Or, he moves in all kinds of circles because he’s a businessman. Or...wait...did I say he’s a businessman?...

"So it will be the liberal Trump/Pelosi versus the conservative Cruz/Rubio? We will either have Trump-care or freedom. Time for the Libs to go back to the DU."

You can post it three times but it still won't make it true.

Sorry for that error. I mistyped.

Looking at the question, I don't think the "unfavorable" means people won't vote for Mr. Trump. Also, judging by his crowds, the ratings boost whenever he's on TV and the popularity of Apprentice and of his books, I just can't imagine he's at 61% unfavorable.

I'll stand by my suspicion that there are a lot of people who have an "unfavorable" view of Mr. Trump as a person but will vote for him. A better question would be "who has the leadership skills to bring the US through a crisis" or something to that effect. A question such as that would better reflect those who are apt to vote for Mr. Trump.

You really think Trump's going to do poorly? We must live in different universes.

I spend more time following conservative twitter than I do here. Don't know if it is a different universe but it is a certainly a different environment with a different point of view.

I see the former Iowa Lt. Governor, a Democrat who helped arrange for his visit to the ethanol plant, agrees with him on the issue.

He’s simply not trustworthy.
