School to homeschoolers: Sign up or face criminal charges [Proverbs 22]
World Net Daily ^ | 11/12/2015 | Bob Unruh

A number of homeschool parents in Florida have been ordered by a public school district to register their children in classes within three days or face “criminal prosecution” under state law. A meeting within the next week likely will determine whether school officials will face a lawsuit in response to the threat. The issue is being addressed by the Home School Legal Defense Association, which said its members in the Santa Rosa County School District received letters demanding information that parents are not required to provide under state law. The information included Social Security number, race and grade level.

The parents also received a letter demanding they comply with a new district policy requiring them to show proof of residency and to prove they no longer were registered in whatever district they most recently had been under. HSLDA said its staff attorney, TJ Schmidt, wrote to Terri Moore, who was secretary in what used to be called the Alternative Academics and Continuous Improvement Department, as well as Santa Rosa Supt.

Tim Wyrosdick "pointing out that Florida law does not require proof of residency or any of the additional information that the district requested." A weeks-long silence by the district suggested to HSLDA that the policy had been changed to comply with state law. "How wrong we were," HSLDA said. The homeschooling families now were receiving "termination" letters from Moore, who had moved on to become a secretary to Laura Austin, principal of the Santa Rosa Blended Academy/Home Education Department. The parents were bluntly told the district was "terminating your request to file your intent to home school in Santa Rosa County School District." The letter said, according to HSLDA, each family had three days "to register your student in public or private school..."

All the schools/FL want is the federal money. They could care less about the kids.

And gotta admit there’s nothing to cause someone to confess they are unfit for heaven than kneeling them on the ground in orange jumpsuits with a sword above their heads.

Oops, I got a detail wrong. That’s ISIS, not Christianity.

Christians get so full of “leave us alone or we trample you” sometimes, that they forget Jesus never planned such a life for them. They are planned (if they will cooperate) to be witnesses first and foremost, that are no more fragile edifices than Jesus was. People will begin to ask what manner of people these are, and their number will grow beyond what their enemies could possibly persecute away. It happened at the Roman lions, and it happens today.

Self defense with sword is for warding off murder threats, not for meddlesome bureaucrats who spout such arrant nonsense that not even Caesar’s court will believe it.

“Hard to read between the lines, but I’m assuming you’re calling the judicious use of litigation, cowardice.”

You assumed 100% wrong.

You couldn’t be more wrong if you struggled an hour with this.

Post to someone else.

This is not necessary because they mostly do their ideological damage in spite of home schooling — through social networks and colleges and even the work place. Conservatives these days must be silent and obey if they want to work. Home schooling is worth the try, but in may cases it will not be enough. Of course a changed heart submitted to the Lord Jesus is enough, but then we have the corruption of the churches manufacturing fake converts and making membership a right of man rather than a call of God. When liberals allow a thought of god at all, it is a god that must submit to their own evil whims.

The homeschoolers should stand on the precedent set forth by the current president.

There are few problems that can’t be solved with the judicious application of high explosives.

It's critical for anyone home-schooling, in any state, to join HSLDA - they really do have our backs.

(Oddly, deep-blue state Konnecticut has some of the strongest home-school protections in the country, but we still partner with HSLDA).

If this is the same county that Pensacola is in, the ruling class there is extremely liberal including lots of homosexuals.

Government schools need to be entirely abolished; their functions returned to the private sector. Educating our children is far too important to let government continue to make a hash of it.

Yes and no. They do want the money and they don’t care about what is truly best for children. But there is more, many in public education practically foam at the mouth when they discuss homeschooling. They honestly believe it is dangerous and shouldn’t be legal. We’ve experienced it first hand. My husband lost his job of twenty years due, in part, to the fact that we homeschool.
