A number of homeschool parents in Florida have been ordered by a public school district to register their children in classes within three days or face âcriminal prosecutionâ under state law. A meeting within the next week likely will determine whether school officials will face a lawsuit in response to the threat. The issue is being addressed by the Home School Legal Defense Association, which said its members in the Santa Rosa County School District received letters demanding information that parents are not required to provide under state law. The information included Social Security number, race and grade level.
The parents also received a letter demanding they comply with a new district policy requiring them to show proof of residency and to prove they no longer were registered in whatever district they most recently had been under. HSLDA said its staff attorney, TJ Schmidt, wrote to Terri Moore, who was secretary in what used to be called the Alternative Academics and Continuous Improvement Department, as well as Santa Rosa Supt.
Tim Wyrosdick "pointing out that Florida law does not require proof of residency or any of the additional information that the district requested." A weeks-long silence by the district suggested to HSLDA that the policy had been changed to comply with state law. "How wrong we were," HSLDA said. The homeschooling families now were receiving "termination" letters from Moore, who had moved on to become a secretary to Laura Austin, principal of the Santa Rosa Blended Academy/Home Education Department. The parents were bluntly told the district was "terminating your request to file your intent to home school in Santa Rosa County School District." The letter said, according to HSLDA, each family had three days "to register your student in public or private school..."

Perhaps home school parents would not agree with their daughters sharing bathrooms and locker rooms with transgender pubescent boys? Or they would teach their children that homosexuality is dangerous behavior physically and a sin spiritually? Whatever the case, there can be no disagreement with the omniscient, omnipotent, ever-present, state (beast) which knows better than parents how to raise children. Even though God tells parents to train their children, the public school system is firmly committed to Hillary Clinton's concept of schooling which says, "It takes a village" (not a family).
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old , he will not depart from it.
I’m of the opinion that some people ought to start disappearing.
God could do that in a microsecond if He wanted. Scarcely needs our help, and there aren’t any commands to that effect.
” likely will determine whether school officials will face a lawsuit in response to the threat.”
sue these ratholes, what’s the problem?
Once they get the subpoena, I imagine it’s going to be blamed on some bureaucratic oversight double quick. HSLDA does pretty jolly good.
COWARDICE will destroy this country as quickly as Obama can do it.
FYI
Yes, the Lord could make them disappear but instead He’s allowing them to confess their unfitness for heaven. As CS Lewis, said, all who go to hell ultimately chose it.
It’s all about money the schools want from increased enrollment of home-schooled kids.
All the way to oblivion.
It's 90% white, has one of the smallest immigrant populations of any Florida county, has a big military contingent, lot of farmers, it's the home of good ol' boy golfer Bubba Watson.
One of the last counties in Florida you'd assume for this kind of nonsense.
Hard to read between the lines, but I’m assuming you’re calling the judicious use of litigation, cowardice. HSLDA isn’t there to cram anything down anyone’s throat and crow about it, like liberals habitually do. Some might call that cowardly. That’s not heaven’s view, however.
Remember it comes unto you in same measure. Are you sure of how simon pure you are?
Better to call the plan of salvation unto all.
This was in News/Activism - not religion. Had it been ‘Religion’ I would have not commented.
If they answer "the government," there's no point in arguing with them.
Don’t put up with this. Remove these totalitarians from office.
Florida huh.... i wonder what Jeb Bush’s involvement is/was in this...
Was it a directive enacted under the jeb! regime as governor?
Makes one wonder if Terri Moore hasn’t just gone rogue? Was she authorized by the school board to undertake this action? Is there an elected or appointed school board?
I actually don’t think this is about the money. I think they get enough money from the illegals. This is about ideology. They want to force Christians to give the state their children for 13+ years of indoctrination. It is their great hope of ridding the nation of “evil” conservatives.
Children of parents not complying with this edict will be placed on double secret probation.
